I was thinking of running this guy with my BA list, but I am not sure which unit I would put him with. I feel his lack of jump pack gives him a distinct disadvantage when it comes to joining squads in such an army. So where would he be realistically usable? I was thinking with honor guard or veterans, but I don't know. I am not asking how to use this guy competitively. This is a fluffy combat scenario based more on whim than me seeing him as being tactically amazing.

for fluff reasosn I would put him in with an honor guard.... seems like a good place for a chapter master for me.
I just cant get over a chapter master not having a power weapon. it seems wrong on so many levels.

Uh whut? Str 8 with rending for Blood Reaver? I'll take that! All vehicles are attacked at rear armor values too? The reason I don't use Dante much is the str 4 power weapon, he's no more likely to wound a tough opponent than a normal tactical marine. I've though of running Seth with a large assault squad and a sanguinary priest in a Crusader or Redeemer

yes but dante is much more likely to wound a normal trooper than seth is. HQs need to ignore armor.

I am playing primarily against my girlfriend's orks and my friend's imperial guard. In this situation, he may be able to slice some punks up despite the lack of a power weapon, just due to his high strength and that whirlwind attack which causes 1 automatic hit on all base-to-base targets. I think he would be very effective against nobs and the like. I have been playing games in the 750-1000 point range, so I figured him being a solid 160 points he could make a reasonable HQ choice for that size of a game compared to something outlandish like Mr. Sanguinor.

Hah, I played nice the first real game we had, and I actually try to win now. She still kicks my butt with her green tide. I haven't used MEQ lists against her often though. Mostly my daemons and dark eldar (which i will admit are not lists which I am that great at). I think this weekend I will try another game but with some marines and see how that goes.

I don't know. Seth is one of the poorer HQ choices in the codex.
I think the optimal place for him would be accompanying a 10 man Assault Squad in a Land Raider or Storm Raven. But even then, I think a Reclusiarch would be a better compliment to that squad.

I agree, he doesn't bring much to his allies. He is a very self-sufficient little hero. I think I would like to try him in a larger point game as a secondary HQ choice, with someone like Lemartes/Reclusiarch or a Librarian Terminator as the primary HQ. Nonetheless, I think I want to field him next game just to see what happens when I charge him face-first into an ork mob.

I run Seth occasionally with a DC escort and perhaps a Medic in a Storm Raven (with the DC DN)... That or run them out of a LR... Fun, not really that competitive I guess, but my FT's are one of the more overpowered armies I play... Seth doesn't fit well into a "drop" list usually...

He's probably good in a more mech army since he can ride in a transport filled with non jump-infantry troops. Since your point level is low your probably not going to want to sink 200+ points in a squad of termis so he might be good with a cheap squad of vanguard in a razorback or rhino >?

Personnely I love him as a character. For one he just gets so many attacks. With the whirlwind rule and getting a free hit for every 1 your oppent rolls to hit him, also everytime I have used him he just dosen't die. That being said I like hime in a assault squad in a landraider of some type, which ever you prefer, or a 30 man death co. squad on foot w/ bolters, and a couple of power weapons. I don't like him in the honor guard just dosen't fit fluff wise for me.

I play IG and firmly disagree, sir!!! LoL
Agree with the above post that he is a secondary HQ to at least a Librarian because psychic support is a little needed and seems like it should be staple in the BA armies along with the Libbynaughts.
