1# 1390 cuz i cant get more right now, soon i'll have hunter and scraplauncher (1 reason for having gnoblars)
2# The main reason to get gnoblars is for sacrifice.
Questions:
1. What does bellower/musician do exactly?
2. with 6 bulls is it still ok to have 2 hand weapons?
3. with 10 bulls i should get ironfist to everyone if i take light armour?
4. what do talisman of endurance and ironcurse icon do?
P.S I accidentally wrote bullgut instead of skullplucker for the bruiser...
Usually it's best to build to a rounder, more common points total - 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 - because it makes it easier to get pickup games in, calculate percentages, and so on. Which is why I suggested aiming for 1500 or cutting down to 1000, but if you're playing with your friends and they'd like to match your total army points then that works too.
1) Bellowers are musicians in all ways. A 10 point bellower means that your unit wins tied combats (or if the other guy has a musician, it's a total draw), which is very good when you're relying almost entirely on combat res from causing wounds, and without rerolls it all comes down to dice - and ogre
LD is not great, so losing even @ -1 will be disastrous without a
BSB in the army. Also, the musician gives your unit +1 to rally, which again, with ogre
LD and no
BSB you should expect to flee at some point. In fact, bellower on the belchers is especially important, as they are your bait-and-flee unit (less important in 8th but still). Finally, the musician in 8th lets you swift reform: reform the unit pointed where you want it, pop a
LD test, and if passed move (probably 6" for ogres) forward.
2) Hey, if you want to go ahead. In my mind you're spending 18 points to give the front ogres +1A,
and to drop
AP from all of the unit's attaks. So if 3-wide, 18 points buys +3A but costs you
AP on 18 attaks. Not good in my mind. BUT do you have them modeled with 2
hw? Then go for it, I'd rather match my models than run perfect units.
3) If you buy the unit a new weapon, you must buy everyone it. So you need to buy 10 ironfists or none. While I like how cheap 35 point naked bulls are, I run my big unit with IF + LA at 43 points a pop too. 5+ armor and 6+ ward in combat isn't too bad for a big fat unit that's throwing out so many attaks as it is, and unlike the ahw, the ironfist benefits the entire unit, not just the ogres in the front rank (since the whole unit gets the armor and parry).
4) ToE is a 5+ ward and II gives the unit he's with a 6+ ward vs artillery fire. Can come in handy and is ultra-cheap at 5 points. On the talisman, you could take wyrdstone necklace and save 10 points ... but I always fail the 2+ roll to not take a wound, which is kinda sad
On the skullplucker, remember that if you buy a magic weapon you can't use a mundane one. So if you get him skullplucker (I think
CLS is better!), don't buy him a
CLS too.
Have you played much with your fatties? How do you like them?
