Question #1 - Why is the limit 1390?

If you want to boost this up in points, I'd say grab a butcher. If you want to cut some points or address some odd choices, here's what sticks out to me:

Bruiser - Deserves some kind of defensive items, and wallcrusher & bullgut are really not that great of buys, as they can be negated if you don't get your impacts, don't add that much killiness, but definitely don't keep the main man alive (even if bullgut is +1 save, I guess)

Bulls - Ahw is definitely last on my list for ranked bulls, and light armor without an ironfist isn't worth it IMO. And get a bellower in there!

More Bulls - You know you have to buy the whole unit ironfists, right? If you can afford it, getting light armor on these boys would be worth it IMO. And get a bellower in there!

Guts - Is ragbanner the cold-blooded panic one? Not bad in that case. But get a bellower in there!

Fighters - Nice, but such a wee unit

Leadbelchers - I would take a bellower before taking a t-fist, though the champ has his uses too if you've got points.

*CHAINFIST SOUNDS*

Spoiler:
Here's my 1390, stripped down and with +1 irongut:

H: Bruiser - talisman of endurance, ironcurse icon, cathayan longsword, heavy armor = 177

C: 10 Bulls - standard, bellower, ironfists, light armor = 460
C: 6 Ironguts - standard, bellower, ragbanner = 353
C: 6 Bulls - standard, bellower = 240
C: 20 Fighters = 40

S: 2 Leadbelchers - bellower = 120
--------
1390

I replaced all of the champs with bellowers. With one character, who wants to fight, I can't see the use of having so many champs around. They could take challenges and mash characters for the underdog bonus ... but ogres can still mash characters without being champs Otherwise this list does what I suggested: retool the bruiser for endurance, make the ironfist bulls more armored, the naked bulls more naked, add a LOT of noise with all the bellowers, and find an extra gut in the process.

Sry for that, im new with fantasy battle since i've started it a little while ago.

Answers:
1# 1390 cuz i cant get more right now, soon i'll have hunter and scraplauncher (1 reason for having gnoblars)
2# The main reason to get gnoblars is for sacrifice.

Questions:

1. What does bellower/musician do exactly?
2. with 6 bulls is it still ok to have 2 hand weapons?
3. with 10 bulls i should get ironfist to everyone if i take light armour?
4. what do talisman of endurance and ironcurse icon do?

P.S I accidentally wrote bullgut instead of skullplucker for the bruiser...

Usually it's best to build to a rounder, more common points total - 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 - because it makes it easier to get pickup games in, calculate percentages, and so on. Which is why I suggested aiming for 1500 or cutting down to 1000, but if you're playing with your friends and they'd like to match your total army points then that works too.

1) Bellowers are musicians in all ways. A 10 point bellower means that your unit wins tied combats (or if the other guy has a musician, it's a total draw), which is very good when you're relying almost entirely on combat res from causing wounds, and without rerolls it all comes down to dice - and ogre LD is not great, so losing even @ -1 will be disastrous without a BSB in the army. Also, the musician gives your unit +1 to rally, which again, with ogre LD and no BSB you should expect to flee at some point. In fact, bellower on the belchers is especially important, as they are your bait-and-flee unit (less important in 8th but still). Finally, the musician in 8th lets you swift reform: reform the unit pointed where you want it, pop a LD test, and if passed move (probably 6" for ogres) forward.

2) Hey, if you want to go ahead. In my mind you're spending 18 points to give the front ogres +1A, and to drop AP from all of the unit's attaks. So if 3-wide, 18 points buys +3A but costs you AP on 18 attaks. Not good in my mind. BUT do you have them modeled with 2 hw? Then go for it, I'd rather match my models than run perfect units.

3) If you buy the unit a new weapon, you must buy everyone it. So you need to buy 10 ironfists or none. While I like how cheap 35 point naked bulls are, I run my big unit with IF + LA at 43 points a pop too. 5+ armor and 6+ ward in combat isn't too bad for a big fat unit that's throwing out so many attaks as it is, and unlike the ahw, the ironfist benefits the entire unit, not just the ogres in the front rank (since the whole unit gets the armor and parry).

4) ToE is a 5+ ward and II gives the unit he's with a 6+ ward vs artillery fire. Can come in handy and is ultra-cheap at 5 points. On the talisman, you could take wyrdstone necklace and save 10 points ... but I always fail the 2+ roll to not take a wound, which is kinda sad

On the skullplucker, remember that if you buy a magic weapon you can't use a mundane one. So if you get him skullplucker (I think CLS is better!), don't buy him a CLS too.

Have you played much with your fatties? How do you like them?

Get rid of your champions. they arn't worth the cost for just 1 extra attack.

what you spent on them could buy you almost 2 more Bulls. 6 extra attacks and 6 wounds is better then 3 attacks and no extra wounds.

don't get LA unless you have points to spare.

Bellowers are MANDATORY. swift reform and winning drawn combats is HUGE. Banners really arn't worth it unless you might play the mission that is won by killing banners.

the Ragbanner is ok, but Runemaw is better and cheaper.

i reccomend the Mawseeker bigname for your Bruiser. cheaper and isn't situationally effective. Stupidity can be bad, but if you have a BSB he can reroll the test.

taking the models you have i can make this list.

Tyrant (CLS, HA, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Preservation, The Other Tricksters shard, Mawseeker) 291 pts

Bruiser BSB (Mawseeker, Wyrdstone necklace, Ironcurse icon, CLS, HA) 202 pts (use one of the Bulls you gave a banner to to represent him)

15 Bulls (IFs, LA, Bellower, Standard) 675 pts (large unit with some serious hitting power if you put your characters)

5 Ironguts (Runemaw banner, Bellower) 290 pts

20 Gnoblars with groinbiter 42 pts

1500 on the button.

i would suggest you get a couple of Butchers ASAP. prehaps you can turn your Leadbeltchers into Butchers. Leadbeltchers are fun, but under 2.5k points they are really too expensive and unreliable and are a poor choice in general.

Cathayan Longsword. It gives the user +1 WS and I. A pretty popular choice for Tyrants and Bruisers. I know I use one on mine.

once you get that rulebook give all the magic items a good lookover. it does contain all the common magic items now and Ogres benifit from it more then most.

i don't know if you know about it, but there is another forum dedicated to Ogre Kingdoms called www.ogrestronghold.com

there are tons of Ogre players from across the world there(all 12 of us )
