Feb tournament, 1500pts.
Pls criticise, suggest improvements etc. Tough ask but I want to have a solid handle on everything from greentide to DE vehicle spam.

Perhaps as you said swap the dread for a vindi. Lone vindis dont work as well as 2of them

I really dislike the lone vindi, and have taken a strong dislike to them altogether
I'm a huge fan of the speeders, but I really suggest another dakka pred or another vindi.
that way you keep the rule of 2

Putting in another vindi means im very reliant on those speeders doing a lot of anti vehicle work. ie 2 TLLC and 2 man packed ML outside of the speeders will not be enough.
I agree though having a second vindi for plague marines or crazed blood angels with FNP would be sweet. Automatically Appended Next Post: New look 1500

How do I smash the swarmlord/abbadon/mephiston now? Really means I have to rely on my termies, or overtasking those speeders to burn little bugs / melta big bugs.
Getting the pred in there would be really good, even though I get my LR TLLCs.

Drop the fists and a speeder and take a second vindi and upgrade the flamer squad to a melta squad. 20" melta range from tacticals is nothing to sneez at

I agree with picking up a second vindi. For taking out light armor you should have enough with the LR firing LC's as it closes in and if you combat squad the tacticals and use the ML's. IMO, 2 speeders is enough to deal with the heavy armor you will see at that point level. I would drop one and give your libby TDA, SS, and combiweapon and spend the remaining points on maybe EA for the LR and upgrading to siege shields not to waste any points. If that LR goes, then the libby is dead if you are just going to keep him in there.

Hmm thats not bad advice pdawg
I was kind of counting on losing at least 1 speeder on turn 1, if not 2, so having another left is always nice, however your right about the libby and the ea of the raider.
let me chew on that one
tedurur im committed to the fists. 10 marines alone just get eaten alive, with fists they can handle themselves passably. To lose the fists I would really want something else in here that could handle some CC - perhaps losing the TH and the raider and taking 10 terms with CMLs that I could combat squad, although they have their own challenges, so im happy paying for the fists Automatically Appended Next Post: So here is a new look 1500 pts, not sold on it just yet
Its less a third speeder but bolstered with TDA/SS for libby, brings another plasma cannon, EA for the raider and a HK for one rhino

I was under the impression that you were combat squading? Still, 25pts for a fist is not a good investment in a Tac squad. 1 str 8 hit makes very little difference. A fist does not make marines a viable CC unit.
Why are you paying pts for PCs if you arent combat squading?
In all honesty dropping a speeder to acquire those upgrades is a bad trade imo.

Got enough troops in there mate? All the sydney tourneys these days seem to play only troops can contest. Personally would throw in some scouts just for that objective grap flexibility. Or theres that new scout speeder transport to go with your other speeders. What tournament are you playing? Are you going to play Dogcon?

In first turn, your army eventually eventually lacks cover fire in 1st turn.
The only long-range weapons are the lascannons of the LR and the hkm.
I'd include one or two auto/las Predators.

Remember that you have the option to DS those speeders. Great for a flank shot against those pesky vindis, russes, or for getting to a LR without getting shot up. Concerning PF's, I always run them. I find that the minute I don't have them that my tactical squads gets locked in with a dreadnought or MC. It can also make IC's very nervous and tip the balance of an assault by insta-gibbing them. Some people swear to never take them. Experiment around and see what works best. I wouldn't worry about PC's, the vindis are your AP2 templates. Just go with RL's. Free and flexible.
