I've been looking at some armybooks, and I'm building a few lists for Lizardmen and Dark Elves to try to find which army I would like to replace my current Dwarf army with. I love Lizardmen for their pretty bad-ass infantry, along with their nice cavalry. I'm also starting to build an interest in magic, when previously I had no interest in it. So, here it is, C&C is much appreciated as usual!

Slann Mage Priest
• 2 Disciplines of the Old Ones:
o The Focused Rumination
o Focus of Mystery
• Diadem of Power
• Rod of the Storm

20 Temple Guard
• Full Command

(2x)24 Saurus Warriors
• Full Command

8 Cold One Cavalry
• Full Command

Ancient Stegadon

The strategy is simple: the Slann goes with the Temple Guard in the center with the Saurus Regiments to each side, the Slann will either be pounding face with magic missiles or using augments to reinforce the Saurus around him, while the Cavalry go down one flank, and the Stegadon down the other.

I would love some feedback, and to everyone who celebrates it: Merry Christmas!

T'au Empire: ~2500 Points
Eldar: ~1500 Points
Chaos Marines: ~1000 Points
Orks: ~1500 Pts.

The (New)Dark Tally: [W/T/L]
Orks: 4/1/0
Chaos: 2/1/0
Eldar: 4/1/0
Tau: 3/1/0

Assume you plan to use Lore of Life? Armies centered around Slann are impacted greatly by lore selection...

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Makes a lot of sense. I'm really interested in the lore of fire, although lore of beasts and death also seem cool. Havent really looked into the lore of life...

Not to burst any bubbles, but I don't think you can have a slaan in an army of less than 2000pts (he's a lord). I actually wanted to run 2 slaan in my army (yin and yang theme) before I learned about all the percentage based rules and regs. Sad day :(. Though you're already at 1975, might as well bump up to 2000. Please please correct me if I'm wrong on that. I'd really like to have a slaan at a lower point value as I too am just getting started.

As far as strat goes. I'd focus on lores w/ magic missile attacks. I was oh so tempted by death... but then I realised they had no magic missile attacks. My steggie has a skin priest on it, so I plan to have my slaan in the backfield surrounded by the beef with the steg and priest up front and center. Through channeling the slaan can throw his missiles through the priest and/or buff the rest of the army. Also 'and here's the kicker' if your slaan gets into melee, he can still throw magic missiles so long as he's not in base contact. That being said... I'd really weight out the benefits of a lore w/out magic missiles for a slaan. Life is very tempting though for my back field slaan plan.

As long as the slann costs less than 500 points (in a 2000 point army) or 493 points (in a somewhat strange 1975 points), the Slann is legit.

The army selection rules have changed from those you find in the army books (i.e. the ones that state "3 heroes in armies of 1999 points or less)
