Subject: Cheaper alternatives to GW Paint?

Specifically I need something close to a Hormagaunt Purple Foundation, Scorpian Green, Goblin Green, Mithril Silver, and Catachan Green.
I have heard of P3 but not sure what the best brand is, the GW paint is just so expensive. Any help would be awesome.
Kindest regards,
-Villescrubs

If you think GW paint is "so expensive", then not much can help you.
The alternatives out there are cheaper, but not by much.
People usually switch to other companies' paints for the quality and feel. Personally, I enjoy Vallejo Game/Model Color for their cost and range. I use Reaper paints as well for the same.

There are plenty of paints that are cheaper, but none will stack up to the quality of GW or Vallejo paints. It's like a lot of things, either spend the money up front, or pay twice later.
And again, complaining about the cost of this hobby is kinda like complaining about the price of gas when you own a muscle car, either get out or come to terms with it.

I've enjoyed both P3 and the Testor's Model Master series. Not sure if/how much cheaper they are than GW paints, though. I imagine in this hobby you're not going to find paint pots for much less than $3 these days.
Still, they last a while. I've never felt ripped off when buying paints. $3 or so seems reasonable to me.

no kidding. Are GW paints $6/pot? If so, that price is ridiculous.

P3 are very good paints and they have many shades, most pf them similar to the ones used by GW just named differently. I'll take P3 over GW paitns any day. There's more paint in the pot and they're still cheaper

I haven't tried it yet, but I got a sample tube of liquitex red for christmas. Its a heavy body paint that I'm gonna try out. I'll let you know here in the next day or two what i find. I have used the matte medium and glaze medium by liquitex and it's really cool, so if their acryilics are any good for models that might be a way to go. It may not be much cheaper, but if you have a 50% off coupon for an art store, it may be more readily available.

They are $6 here for some reason.
OP try Vallejo, their colours mostly match the GW ones including the ones that have gone out of production.

Vallejo paint "pots" will cost about as much as a GW paint pot, but will have alot more paint (17ml vs 11ml). So you're getting more for your money.
Also, there is a color comparrison guide on the wiki here. I highly recommend looking at it for equivalent colors.

I pay €3 A pot, not much if you ask me... anything cheaper I'd seriously start wondering about the quality.

Humrol do a range of acrylics in matt, satin, gloss and metallic for less than GW paints. I don't really use them much, but they might be worth looking into

I tried the artists acrylic "naphthol red" by winsor & newton. It's a semi translucent medium. So I added some water to it and went to town. Pics below. IMO it painted alright. I'm not gonna run out and buy the whole line... but next time i buy colours, I'll probably pick up some of these. they cap nicely and it's easy to take what you need and leave the rest. I like em. cost wise i haven't checked but, as i said, they were giving these away so it can't be that expensive, and they come in larger tubes, so take that as you will.
linky https://store.opusframing.com/sagro/storefront/store.php?mode=browsecategory&category=3359 prices are in canadian and format is larger size so it's maybe comparable.
I hope this helps.
