I've been working on a large Novamarines army for some time now, and I thought it's about time I started a P&M log about it, so heres some pictures:

Crazy Dread with a Storm Shield:

And a Predator

So, what do people think?

Very cool! I like the colorscheme allot! Also the weathering on the tank is cool.

Would love to see more!

Weathering on the tank is great.

I love the dead witha storm shield. Very charachterfull.

Do a quick drilling out of the heavy barrels on the tank , or at least put some black dots to reperesent the barrels.

Not sure what it is, but something looks a bit off on the Red helemted Termie.

Maybe it's that he has red eyes with a red helmet?

@Cvife
I think the terminator with the red helm would look better with green or blue eyes. Other than that, I'm loving your marines! Always double impressed when people pull of a 50/50 scheme so good

I'm in the process of painting my own Novamarines army, so I'm really interested in seeing how you did them. I love the dread's storm shield, really cool, and interesting tone of blue, I went with fenris grey+wash+highlight, what is your base colour? What's the reasoning behind the scheme on the pred? I just went with quartering the tanks. Anyway, I'd love to see some more!

Thanks, the blue is ultramarines blue mixed with ice blue.

There are two reasons behind the variant scheme on tanks, the first is that quartered schemes on tanks are an absolute pig to paint, the other is that in the most recent imperial armour there is a large section on the novamarines in which it shows that as the scheme they use on their tanks.

And finally the reason the terminator head looks funny is because it isn't done yet

so, people wanted to see more stuff, so here they are:

The Novamarines are a second founding Ultramarines successor so I see no reason why I can't use him in my army:

I also painted up the space hulk terminators in this scheme, but I do still need to finish them:

In case people were wondering, there are some actual marines in this army, here's some:

Their the crap half of a devastator squad, which again need finishing, i.e the eyes but i like them

And the good half:

I also painted one of the new venerable dreadnoughts for this army

and finally a picture of my latest project, the predator i got for christmas:

For those who are interested, this army is about 3000 pts in size and I have no plans to stop adding stuff.

The plan at the moment is to have at least 15 Thunder Hammer Terminators because their special character makes them really good, one of the new forgeworld mk4 ironclads with a dreadnought drop pod and a load of the special armor from forgeworld to make some proper tactical marines.

Excellent work.

Only suggestion would be to drill the barrels on the MultiMelta, or at least black-dot them.

Time for an update:

So I recently got my student loan through, so can anyone guess what the first thing I did was?

That's right, I went and got drunk, and then once I'd recovered from the hangover I decided to spend a rather large amount at forgeworld, and heres some of the stuff I bought:

Firstly, a Siege Dreadnought, basically, just like a lot of this army, I am basing it on heavily on the background from the Badab War books from forgeworld, and in the main entry for the Novamarines there was a picture of a siege dreadnought called "Ancient Herulian" so, I'm making him, following that picture to the closest detail possible. Here's some photo's of the assembled model:

Also, the first thing on my list was the new mk4 Ironclad Dreadnought, for no reason other than it's awesome:

More to come:

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Next, I wanted to make some truly cool looking Tactical marines, so I ordered a pack of mk4 and mk5 armor and combined the bits with a standard Tactical Squad and some Devastator bits so that they can have some good heavy weapons, heres the first assembled squad:

and the sergeant from the second squad:

I also got a Dreadnought Drop Pod but I haven't even started that one, so no photos.

Also, I've been doing a spot of painting, Such as:

A rhino:

And finishing the Crazy Storm Shield Dreadnought:

Coursework permitting I should have another update soon.

What do people think?

Well, I've been painting when I should be working, but it's fine, I'm not panicking at all...

anyway, here's an update of what i've been up to:

Half a painted tactical squad:

The weathering effect went a little wrong on the sergeant's helmet, but I'll fix it when I have time:

And here's a couple of my favorite models from the squad so far:

Because mk4 armour is so cool.

More to come...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And just a little bit more:

I started painting the Ironclad, and so far I'm pleased with the results:

And I've finally been working on some objectives, like everything in this army, I want them based on the Badab War, so, I went for dead marines from the traitor chapters, heres the first WIP of a Lamenter:

That's right, as far as I'm aware, I'm the only person with Novamarines at Brighton Warlords, so these would be the ones that you saw

Cool plog, i really like your painting style. Nice and gritty! The space hulk terminators are looking good, nice to see them done as something other than BA. Looking forward to seeing how the dreads come out

Truly great stuff. The battle damage looks great throughout the army. I think that you need to work a little more on the details such as the check pattern on the dead termie and the scanner whatnot held by the marine. I would suggest thinning down your paints and getting a super-fine detail brush.

Keep up the good work! I love seeing marines get a little dirty and yours are perfect for that reason!

And here comes another update:

I finally built the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod, something I never want to do again:

and it even fits a normal sized dreadnought complete with base:

Here's a work in progress shot of the siege dreadnought hmm, beginning to look like I have a bit of an addiction to Dreadnoughts, I think I'll stop at 6!:

and finally another WIP shot of the objective

I'm sure I'll have another update in a couple of days, perhaps even some in game shots.

I have to agree with what every one has written. The weathering effect looks great. Shows a chapter that has been fighting for a long time but is still getting stuck in. The poses of the tactical marines are great. Expensive to make but well worth the effort.

On a side note I love the skull on the objective. So subtle (I will probably find that it's not finshed yet but I lov it any way ).

An Ironclad with a decent looking Seismic Hammer Nifty. I've got to agree with people the weathered looking marines are great. Its nice to see them looking as if they are stuck in eternal war rather than eternal polishing!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Gotta love parts that don't fit together well.

Your painting looks superb. +1 to all the good weathering and battle damage comments. Nicely done!
