Just finished this guy off before the holiday. I went with a dark limited pallet after not liking the amount of red models on the shelf Hope you like it!

Blood Angel Chapter Master with Wings

Incredible. The wings in particular are amazing! I find I would have layed off the cracks on the 'muscle ribbed' armor portions, as it gets a bit too busy, but overall, I still gave it a 10/10 on cool mini.
A great break from the standard Astorath scheme, and well executed in pretty much every respect. Congrats!

Iam curious about your blending technique on the axe. I tried my own version on a power sword, but could not quite blend the white in. As you willl see.

@ necroagogo, Hmm, hard to say. Originally I started painting him red and then went back over it. I'd say around 6 hours excluding the time I wasted.
@ majortom11 To do black I start the model off with adeptus battlegrey, then a shadow grey highlight. Next I gradually blended shadow grey and codex grey. This was done in a few layers gradually adding more grey to the mix. finally a white highlight. To unify everything a wash of 50/50 badab black/asurmen blue was applied. Then I re did the white highights leaving some of the last highlight showing. A highlight is worthless if it covers the last
@ Doxs First I'd suggest getting yourself a wet pallet, once you use one you'll never go back I did the axe by laying out all the colors I wanted to use on the wet pallet. I place them a small distance apart starting with a black/very little liche purple mix then liche puple followed by a puddle of white at the end. gently use your wet brush to pull one color into the next. when you're done it should look like a somewhat smooth gradation from you darkest to your lightest color. The plan is that you have all the colors you're going to use right there and they won't dry out on you (it makes touch ups a lot easier). Then the layering begins and the highlights are slowly built up, at the end I mixed up some pure white for the final highlight and shazaam! I should mention that I always dillute the paint with filtered water and even a touch of retardent if I'm working slow. a 50/50 mix of water to paint should be a good starting point, I don't really measure the mixtures I just add water until I have the right consistency. It took a little trial and error to find that right consistency but it's out there.
Hope that helps guys!

Wow, there are so many things to like on this model.
Oddly enough, my focus keeps returning to the paper on the model. The stonework is fantastic, as is the power weapon, but this is the first time I've seen someone make purity seals that look like they've been around for centuries, rather than just suck on right then.

An excellent rendition of one of my favourite models. I agree wiht much of what has been said about your choice of colours, I think it definitely does the model justice. This assuredly ranks up there with the other conversion/interpretation of this model that won a golden demon not so long ago.

I noticed the seals and scrolls too, the aging and detail are incredible. The entire piece is really inspiring and lovely, great work!
