As a new years resolution I've promised to complete my deathwing army that's been lying in boxes for ages. Bases will be tech based but otherwise the look will be classic Deathwing.

I've collected bits from various kits during the years so everything from old metal terminators to new plastic terminators via dark angels kit and even a chaos terminator lord will be used.

Without further ado, here is the first post with squad "Remus" before priming (the finished testmodel is visible in the background and more images of that can be found in my gallery).



Since I'm doing this project on my paternal leave it will probably not be updated very frequently but I hope to keep it live and going.

First update! Sorry for the crappy photo, I only had my cellphone nearby so I thought it would be good enough but... meh.



Bases almost completed. A little touch up here and there and then I'll be good to start painting the terminators.

Ok, time for the next update.



Bases are finished, and paint has progressed on the terminators. I've probably done 3-5 layers of bone white before hightligting has started to get a decent smoothness of white. I expect maybe 1 layer more on some parts but that's no biggie. Next step will be to add highlights and washes and finally the freehanded symbols and banners.

Any ideas or criticisim I'd be happy to hear it.

Nice bases, are they home made or resin? I like the old terminator chaplain you are using, the new plastic arms dont look to oversized on those old metals either. good work

The bases will be a mixed of home made and resin, the ones currently displayed are home made, except for the Warning electric cover which is a resin part from Scibor.

Tech-based is classic Deathwing. They originated as a Space Hulk expansion.

So, the first squad is finished!!! At least if you don't give me any last minute good ideas or "touch up must do's" before I seal them.

Nice, very nice. I cant really see the edge highlighting in these pictures, but maybe they pop more with some pure white on the edges?
I like the dark blood red, makes relly nice contrast to the white.

Savis great to see more DA fans. I love your fee hand and loving the classic metal termies. Cant wait to see more.

Looks great, how about some scratches along edges of the armor plating? Not at all necessary but it might create that extra 'pop'.

And the dude with the silver head looks like he's got an unpainted shoulder ornament.

Glad to see more Dark Angels! Very nicely done, liking them a lot. The sgt. head is pretty neat as what I think is inking.

Ok, so finally an update. This is my take on Belial, based on a Chaos Terminator Lord with additional bobs and bits. FW shoulderpads, de-chaosified gear, custom inner circle sword, custom helmet... etc.

Any last minute adjustments you can suggest before I basecoat?

Small update this time, just started painting Belial (yes, bad work pace I know but I have my reasons). Anyway here he is, along with my first attempt at wet blending (the lightning claws). Not entirely satisfied with the claws, from a distance they look great but up close it's streaky and grainy... will have to rework my technique for the next attempt.

Belial is looking very cool. Keep the updates coming, inspiration for my own Deathwing force is building.

Judging by the photos the claws look beyond great. I even zoomed in and couldn't see anything in particular.

If you're gonna repaint them you're insane. Or very, very patient.

C&C welcome, body not done and base (not in the pictures) is just basecoated. I hope to be finished by the end of the week.
The freehand on the back of the cloak is supposed to be the deathwing symbol, on the inside there is just a little trimming freehanded with imperial aquilas in the corner.
The banner is supposed to be a warrior angel with a sword having just decapitated a daemon and ordering the rest of the daemon horde to begone, all beneath a starlit sky.

The black parts. The banner pole and wirering for the claws would perhaps befit from some extra hightlights?

Just love the dirty, oily feeling on the claw mechanism. Great work, but I concur with marbo, the black could use a slight highlight, but really. this is just nitpicking.
