Anyone know where I can find such a thing?

I'm new to the TK's and I think they have a lot of potential as a surprise upset, but I'd like to check some things against other peoples findings as well.

I like how the army plays as a defensive front. Tomb Guard are nice and while High Liche Priests are overpriced, I think they're nice as well.

The invocations with the new FAQ is nice, especially since they have to come after bound items and such. Adding a Wizard hat means your opponents dispel dice have to go a long long way. That all priests and kings know the Righteous Smiting invocations means losing the spell from one character isnt crippling either.

So far I've built the army three ways.

A list with Khalida / 60 naked bow skellies / a few swarm bases / a few scorpions / 25 TG / and a liche priest w/ the Casket.

A list with a generic High Priest w/ Wizard Hat, a TK with Collar of Shapesh and GW, 60 skellies naked w/ bows / 25 TG / 2 Catapults / 1 Scorpion / 7 chariots.

A list with Settra / LOTS of chariots / 2 units of TG / 2 Bone Giants.

I've only gotten to play the second one vs some lizards and it turned out Okay. I won by a lot but it was pretty close.

I'm curious about a few units.

Tomb Scarab Swarms.

I can only have one unit of them up to 5 bases big. It can deploy underground but the problem with It Came From Below is that they can see where I have hidden the unit. It's a good way to slow something down so that only one enemy unit at a time makes it to your skeleton archers range, but I dont know if it's worth it to spend a chunk of points on something with Poisoned Attacks being all it had going for it. Luckily, it's immune to squish!.

Ushabti.

They're big and expensive, crumble less.. but I dont see them being more useful than a Bone Giant. I dont really know how to use them and I dont think I can mix my TK in there with them.

Carrion.

That they fly and have multiple wounds is good. They're weak though, and might even lose a battle to a larger crew.. or take so long that support can arrive to save the warmachine they go hunting for.

Lastly... What do Scythed Wheels do? Settra's Chariot has them, but I cant find an entry for it anywhere.

I am just getting started with the army myself, so the only thing I feel comfortable responding to is your last question.

Between Setra's rules (Chariot of the gods, AB:TK page 67, ) and the chariot rules that mention them (Chariots--impact hits, BRB page 86) I think that covers what is remaining of those rules.

Hope that helps, and I am correct.

skythed wheels give you one addition impact hit for that chariot.

On the perfumed wind

Brief thoughts as someone who has strongly considered a Tomb Kings list but hasn't actually gone through with it (yet).

- Most of the things I imagine Tomb Scarabs to be okay for are chomping gun crews or swarming over already wounded big critters (i.e. throwing a bunch of poison at something).

- Ushabti seem incredibly expensive, but strength 6 stomp attacks are pretty nice- as are WS 4, Strength 6 swings at initiative. I can see a block of 6 being doing huge amounts of damage if it gets into a flank, but it costs so darn much that it'll probably get a whole lot of attention on the way in.

- I've heard that carrion are not doing the trick for TK players any more. With incantations, it's still possible to get a turn 1 charge against poorly deployed war machines, but once they're on their own, poor leadership and march blocking becomes a problem. (At least I think so).

Edit: Woops! Can't march at all!

Yea.

The suck thing about Usabti are the unimprovable 5+ armor. Other than getting a lucky draw from your spells and wizard hat, they're unreliable.

If I could have reliable access to Lore of Life, I'd take some Regenerating Ushabti in a heart beat.

Not being to march sucks, and pretty much wastes Carrion.

My only hang-up with scarabs is that for 2 bases, a Tomb Scorpion is cheaper.

Also for some reason Army Builder tells me I can only use 1 swarm period.

Lastly on the Swarms.. and anything using "It Came From Below..." The opponent can see where I'm deploying them, so it's easy to counter unless I scatter something perfect when emerging.

On the bright side, if he runs away with his warmachines on turn 1 / 2, thats a turn he isnt shooting them at me.

It came from below is still nice. Sure they can see where you are putting them. However if they have war machines they cant reliable move them out of the way in time.
