Might want to shave off some points as unless your playing friends with this list they'll want you to knock it down closer to 2000 points. Its nearer 2100 as it is. No Battle standard bearer? Rerolling all leadership tests should really help you stay on the field for longer. I would likely downsize the wolves to 5 and use them as a shooting screen/warmachine hunter. Use leftover points to retool one of the vampire heros as a BSB plus either some added defence for him or a magic banner. With any leftover points going to bulk up the zombies. As 20 will get swept aside pretty easily.

Couple quick notes... cant double up on magic items so two vampires cant have Blood Drinker. Also all your vampires have no armor....which means they are going to die with their no saves. Agreed on making the unit of dire wolves smaller. I'd also free up some points to give banner of barrows to the Grave Guard. I'd drop the Necromancer and take Frostblade off the lord to give all the Vamps some armor and/or ward saves. And just give the second Vamp Tomb blade to replace Blood drinker which gives you some more points. For that matter why is the lord on a nightmare if there are no cavalry units for him to ride with?

I'm not really sold on making your Lord do a little bit of both but try it out. I will as well but I have a feeling the energy spent tugging him in two directions will just make him half as good at both while taking one that's just for magic or just for close combat would make a beast at both. I'm also not sold on taking Zombies in a list...period. Summoning them for free is one thing to be road blocks or shoe shiners, but for them to actually expect me to pay points for their suck is mildly insulting. Again good luck on that one.


As a new Vampire Counts player myself I find it very hard to not spend alot of points making my HQ's awesome. And to an extent that isnt a bad idea but there is a thing as going too overboard and the balance must be found.

Well I am glad I posted this list before I took this army into battle. Thanks for the suggestions.
