Pretty good. Your paint doesn't come "out of the lines" and shows a very clean blocking-in of all the different areas. However, I will say that this ol' chap looks quite dull. I think that he would benefit greatly from a wash or a dip, especially the coat and his epaulletes (his shoulder thingys).
Some highlighting couldn't hurt either.
Nice work nonetheless.

Nicely done, that guy has a lot of character!
I'll echo romeo.lima's statement that the paint could use some shading. Can't wait to see the rest of your force.

I love Praetorians - looking forward to seeing more of them! I don't want to keep making a point already said, but yeah - a wash would really make these guys look great. The paint job itself is good and a wash would really add depth and shading. The obvious choice I guess would be Devlan mud. Even if you don't want to wash the whole model, it would make the epaulettes look really cool.

Bolt pistols always look like that on IG. I have some on the old RT plastics - they look ridiculous.

i like your model, the monocle looks very good on him. concerning the bolt pistol, if it is still doable then i would shave a bit of the pistol grip down to get the hand and the boltpistol to connect better, there seems to be a too big distance now. perhaps that might fix the effect...
looking forward to see more of your work on praetorians, i like to see soeone doing what i want to do in the future^^
by the way, did you GS the monocle? or was it from a mini you converted?

For me it's not so much the Bolt pistol appearing to be too large, but rather the arm wielding it appearing to be too long, which it seems to be.
Other then that,I think the mini looks very cool, bit of a wash and you'll be gold.

I've actually got that same mini on order for the sole purpose of "chopping up" and converting to add to my Praetorian Company Command.
The "regal yet arrogant" look of the mini just screamed "Praetorian" to me.
I've planned something like this...

nice ms paintjob^^
i am stillmusing if there are other possible schemes for praetorians tho...
and your absolutly right the look of said mini is priceless and right on spot for the task!
only one thing, one has to ask, is that a boltpistol from a very point of view angle or what, looks a bit likean auspex or something else sinister...
vik^^

Yes,it will be a Bolt Pistol on the finished mini,of course I'll have to alter the Holster on the mini to tie it in,but that won't present to difficult a task, sculpting the Pith helmet will be the most difficult part...I'm considering just leaving it off all together.

Ah yes, I've studied Col. Gravis Pith Helmet sculpting Tutorial extensively and recommend it,along with his epaulet sculpting tutorial, very highly for anyone who's taking on the task of building a Praetorian army. ...In fact I recommend his entire sight and line of sculpted heads as well.
I suppose I'll probably give sculpting the pith helmet a go.

thats gonna be sweet, looking forward to seeing the finished model, I was thinking to do sorter the same with the model but I decided to avoid using any amour, the helmet screams pope to me tho, lol, am sure it wont come out like that on the model. If your having truble with the helmet, check out wargames factory, most peeps will prob know about them, but I have just found out bout them and they have a decent range and quite cheep, top for bits for converting the minis.

Praetorian Pope. ...nice one.
I've mulled over exactly how to go about adding the pith helmet, with out obscuring the face, which for me is the big "selling point" for the mini,I've considered doing a bit of filling and adding a plastic pith helmet from the "British firing line" kit or perhaps chopping up one of the Secret wars heads I have and using the pith helmet from there...but it seems as though sculpting the helmet will yield the best results. That torso would work so nicely...I love it.

i was just thinking this mini through in my mind while doing some chores at home and then it hit me why not do something apart from the pith helmet? he is obviously a CCS Character so there might be a use for something in the line of that:
i think the mini justifies the twopointer hat...and i think it would make the mini even pop more and would open up the range of your character minis even more two... i will do that eventually with my creel mini...
and also i think it is fairly easier to sculpt, dont you think so?

I like that alot...and yes,it would be a breeze to sculpt,Vik...you've given me something to seriously consider.
