Face shots

Tranquillity sniper squad member D'naru Thuos.

Ritually scarred as a follow on from the primogenitor chapter of the Whitescars, D'Naru has also reached high enough within his squad to go through first two trials of absolution, the aim being cleansed of their sins.

Separated from his squad after a tight skirmish D'Naru found him self fighting alone to get back to the chapter, having gone through his bolter rounds he now has to rely on his bolt pistol, a scavenged knife and his wits. to survive.

Great work! and a cool little back story to go with it. Face with tattoo and scar is awesome, the freehand on the shoulder pad is very nicely done, and I just love the overall look. Needs a few more:

@Graven - glad to hear you like it, I think I learned a lot from when I painted your Mentor Captain, less is more when it comes to weathering. I think if I do ever get around to it, weathering pigments might be a go'er to take it up a notch.

Power armor was worth every yellow layer you did turned out real nice

The ethereal starts looking awesome also

Oh yes it would have to be a subject other than one you have on the line. Anything really, I definitely think you could pull off some extreme levels of weathering.

@ayoku - Many thanks for the comments, I really dig your Fantasy diorama, the level of work you're putting in there is amazing!

@Casey - I might try even more weathering when the next competition comes around, hopefully I have enough time with the Tau test models and my GK push to enter like I did with Gits comp.

Update: Finished of the base layers and applied a wash - Edit: I should add my mate wants a darker look to his models, not the bright style of my GK's so what I photo may not show up very well, but we shall see

And yeh it showed up as 7pm on a Sunday so I figured you'd been painting on Sunday afternoon, forgot to account for time zones.

Nice work thus far on the Tau... you're friend is lucky to have you doing up some nice models, the army will look good on the table.

I like the muted colour scheme, makes it a bit more "real" to me.

I especially like the Tau icons on the Ethereal, those are really crisp.

I think you are confusing dedication with mad skills.

The new fellow I coming through nicely too.That's going to be quite the pair of generals your friend's army will have.

@Mad - Thanks man, I agree there is a certain appeal to having a darker force, specially with such a limited pallet to use as well.

@Meph - Appreciate the comments! Don't tell anyone but it does spell something in the tau language.

@Gits - I could only wish, I don't get why he has a sword when nothing should be reaching their lines. I should know I've had to charge a Tau gun line once, it wasn't pretty.

@Graven - Yeah I'm the same belief, they have this whole, every sper.... I mean soul is sacred so don't throw away lives, having camo would certainly help with keeping your forces alive.

@Casey - Cheers man, I suspect he'll get me to paint his Kroot shaper as well, so that should be fun....
