Hi everyone!

I've been wondering something about the Emperor. Is it still canon that he was created by ancient shaman, who were psykers basically(right?), who essentially sacrificed themselves to have all their power pool into one being?

If that's still the case.. could the psykers of the 40k generation do the same thing? what about the Eldar, or other psychic races?

Is there something that's stopping them from doing that? Because, i can't think that in all this time, that humans were the only race to think of doing something like that?

Thank you in advance,

The Eldar are trying to do it but on a larger scale... they call him/her/it Ynnead iirc. But, it basically involves them using their souls to create it and hope it can beat Slannesh... not the best plan but what you gonna do?

This is where the original background becomes muddied but not irreconcilably so. What you have to bear in mind is that the rise of Humanity spawned Khorne, Tzeentch and Nurgle according to the background found in the Realm of Chaos books although we now know that, according to Codex Necrons, warp entities came into existence as a result of the wars between the Old Ones and the C'tan.

Whether those early Warp beings were the beginnings of the Chaos Gods is unknown but since time does not exist in the Warp it is entirely concievable that a Warp God created in Millennium X would then exist in all other Millenniums; the Warp is tricky like that.

The reason why the early Human Shamen reincarnated into a single body was because of the growing Warp Powers turning the uncorrupted Warp into a writing maelstrom where Daemons hunted down and consumed the Shamen's souls while they bathed in and were invigorated by the Warp prior to reincarnation. In an attempt to keep themselves alive they decided to reincarnate into a single body and thus created the New Man. In the 41st Millennium the Warp is far too dangerous for psykers to do this and souls are quickly dissipated into the Warp and/or devoured by waiting Daemons.

Basically, at this point in the storyline Humanity is too corrupted, the Warp is too dangerous to draw on, and too much knowledge has been lost to effectively create another Emperor. Best case is that He will be able to reincarnate after the Golden Throne gives out. Not holding out much hope that the end result would be pretty, though.

The Eldar did do something similar, though. The result goes by the name Slaanesh. They're hoping that the pooled spirits of the various Infinity Circuits will someday be able to do the same thing. I figure that the end result would be Ynnead and Slaanesh battling in the Warp for the remainder of eternity.

Imperium - Vondolus Prime

Our benificent Emperor dies slowly and surely. There are two theories concerning the outcome of his death. When the shamans sacrificed themselves to create him, they knew they would eventually return to the material world. It is hoped that the same would apply to the Emperor, as his might would surely be any match for an awaiting demon who would EVER DARE to attempt to consume His Holiness. Conversely, a second Eye of Terror may explode from the Golden Throne, engulfing Holy Terra, and the Imperium would fall.

don't want to spoil but if you read a certain book there is a certain character (inquisitor) who spoke directly to the emperor with some strange outcome

Spoiler:
basically the emperor is no longer a single person but more like the demon legion (biblical stuff) he is a collection of many people, to me it sounds like all the souls the emperor eats join him and become one and the same

the actual conversation between emperor and certain someone BIG SPOILER DO NOT READ if you hate spoilers

Spoiler:
WARNING, SPOILERS FOR "DRACO" FOLLOW.

In "The Inquisition War", the Emperor speaks directly to Inquisitor Jaq Draco and stops time so he may safely approach his throne without interference by his Custodes.

"WE ARE CURIOUS," came a mighty anguished thought which itself transcended time. "WE HAVE FOLLOWED YOUR INTRUSION INTO OUR SANCTUARY, OUR ANTRUM AND ADYTUM.

"My lord." Jaq sank to his knees. "I beg to report to you before I am destroyed. I may have uncovered a major conspiracy-"

"THEN WE WILL STRIP YOUR SOUL BARE. RELAX, MORTAL MAN, OR YOU WILL SURELY DIE IN SUCH PAIN AS WE ALWAYS ENDURE."

-Jaq is subsequently soul-stripped and then restored-

"WE HAVE PUT BACK WHAT WE TOOK AND TASTED, INQUISITOR"

"WE ARE MANY, INQUISITOR"

"HOW ELSE COULD WE ADMINISTER OUR IMPERIUM-"

"AS WELL AS WINNOW THE WARP-"

"HOW ELSE?"

"SO DOES THE HYDRA THREATEN US?"

"IMPERILLING OUR GREAT AND AWFUL PLAN TO STEER HUMANITY?"

"DID WE OURSELVES DEVISE THE HYDRA?"

"PERHAPS IN A PART OF US, SINCE THE HYDRA PROMISES A PATH?"

"SURELY A MALEVOLENT PATH; FOR HOW COULD HUMANITY EVER FREE ITSELF?"

"THEN WE MUST BE MALEVOLENT TOO. FOR WE HAVE EXPELLED OUR SENTIMENTALITY LONG AGO. HOW ELSE COULD WE HAVE ENDURED? HOW ELSE COULD WE HAVE IMPOSED OUR RULE?"

"YET BY VIRTUE OF THAT WE ARE PURE AND UNCONTAMINATED BY WEAKNESS. WE ARE GRIM SALVATION."

"NOTHING THAT SAFEGUARDS HUMANITY CAN BE EVIL, NOT EVEN THE MOST STRENUOUS INHUMANITY. IF THE HUMAN RACE FAILS IT HAS FAILED FOREVER."

"WHEN WE CONFRONTED THE CORRUPTED, HOMICIDAL HORUS WHO ONCE USED TO SHINE LIKE THE BRIGHTEST STAR, WHO USED TO BE OUR BELOVED FAVOURITE - WHEN THE FATE OF THE GALAXY HUNG BY A THREAD - WERE WE NOT COMPELLED TO EXPEL ALL COMPASSION? ALL LOVE? ALL JOY? THOSE WENT AWAY. HOW ELSE COULD WE HAVE ARMOURED OURSELVES? EXISTENCE IS TORMENT, A TORMENT THAT MUST NOURISH US. EVIDENTLY WE MUST STRIVE TO BE THE FIERCE REDEEMER OF MAN, YET WHAT WILL REDEEM US?"

"Great Lord of All, did you know of the Hydra before now?" Jaq asks.

"YET SURELY WE KNEW. HOW COULD WE NOT KNOW?"

"ONCE WE HAVE ANALYSED THE INFORMATION WITHIN THIS SUB-MIND OF OURS."

"HEAR THIS, JAQ DRACO: ONLY TINY PORTIONS OF US CAN HEED YOU, OTHERWISE WE NEGLECT OUR IMPERIUM, OF WHICH OUR SCRUTINY MUST NOT FALTER FOR AN INSTANT. FOR TIME DOES NOT HALT EVERYWHERE WITHIN THE REALM OF MAN. INDEED TIME ONLY HALTS FOR YOU."

"WE ARE AN EVER WATCHFUL LORD, ARE WE NOT? DID YOU HOPE TO GAIN OUR UNDIVIDED ATTENTION?"

"HOW ELSE SHOULD WE SOUL-BIND PSYKERS AND OVERVIEW THE WARP AND BEAM THE ASTRONOMICAN BEACON AND SURVIVE AND RECEIVE INFORMATION AND GRANT AUDIENCES ALL AT ONCE, UNLESS WE ARE MANY?"

"AND YET STILL WE MISS SO MUCH, SO VERY MUCH? SUCH AS THAT WHICH GUIDED YOU HERE"

"OUR SPIRIT GUIDED YOU."

"NO: ANOTHER SPIRIT, A REFLECTION OF OUR GOODNESS WHICH WE THRUST FROM US."

"WE ARE THE ONLY SOURCE OF GOODNESS, SEVERE AND DRASTIC. THERE IS NO OTHER SOURCE OF HOPE THAN US. WE ARE AGONISINGLY ALONE."

-After which Jaq Draco and his retinue flee and time resumes-

lol I am sticking with that the Church of Scientology created the Emperor in a super soldier program in the 21st century. The Chaos Gods existed then and now, but the Emperors life is substained by the Golden Thrown. Meaning he acts as a beacon for humanities ships to reach Terra saftly. No more no less, and humanities future is held in check by the Emperors Space Marines and Imperium forces. In time humanity will fall on its own accord just like the ancient Eldar, but not yet. The Chaos Gods are Imortal unlike the Emperor and humanity, so case closed and we will all die as it was meant to be.

I really hate the Draco fluff, it makes the Emperor out to be a lot different than he is portrayed in the HH series.

Has it occurred to anyone that the Emperor basically tried to plan his reincarnation in the same way? He's dying, and he gets thousands of psykers sacrificed to him thorugh the Golden Throne every day.

This could be a more extravagant method than the original Shamans used to create him, and to eventually be reborn even more powerful. Pooling all of those psychic souls until the day of his 'death'.
