Titel pretty much says it all, I just recived my first 5 Termagants but I'm still not sure what scheme to paint them in. The one thing I know is that I want some colours!! I've only painted Iron Warriors so far, and all that silver and gold is starting to wear on me -.- My first thought was to paint them in the leviathon scheme since I really like the purple. But I thought I'd ask if anyone has some suggestions before I start. The main units in my army, atleast the ones I want to be main are Ravenors, Lictors and Hormagaunts. So if anyone know a scheme that would go well with these (especially the ravenors), I'm all ears. If you can provide a picture of the scheme in some form I'd appriciate it.

As did I

Kraken is a lot of fun. Mine look too clean though

Basecoat of either Dheneb Stone or Khemri Brown (dheneb looks really clean, the way I do it. Khemri is a little dirtier)
- Kommando Khaki everywhere
- Wash recesses with ogryn flesh
- Wash those fleshy "muscle-thingies" with baal red
- Carapace with dark flesh
- Highlight with a mix of dark-flesh and belached bone (no ratio. Tyranids can be different )\
- Feather with blood red

Leviathan is really hard to do correctly You have to get that coat of white perfect, then get all the washed perfect and paint the carapace perfect.... UGH

I wouldn't suggest Leviathan, for the very reasons stated above by Samus, and that any imperfections show-up easy on the 'skin'.

I haven't taken my Bugs out of storage for a few years but....

Liche Purple skin, and Sky Blue armour with a Dark Blue ink.
In todays standards that would likely be any light blue with the blue wash.
I then bass them on snow, and give them orange eyes.

I do mine like this, shades of purple for the skin, various washes over that followed by highlights of, once again, purple. The carapace I start off with chaos black, lightly drybrushed with codex grey, and detailed with Snot, and Scorpion green. I usually do lines of first Snot, then scorpion green along the tail edge of the carapace pieces. In the end, it has a very insectlike look to it. I'll post pics sometime soon.

I'd go with some cool browns and yellows for the skin and then go with a purple for carapace thats what i'd go with or alternate it with purple skin and brown armour

Leviathan is a cool scheme, and we as painters don't get enough excuses to paint purple! It's also easy to paint:

Prime models white
Paint armor plates Liche Purple
Wash whole model Leviathan Purple
Paint over most of the chitin with Bleached Bone or white
Wash purple again
Highlight armor plates with Warlock Purple
Then pick out claws in red and eyes in yellow. Easy and good looking!

Mines a dark blue carapace, ice blue highlights, with purple skin, green for squishy bits like tongues, tubes, weapons etc.

You could alternate with a turquoise highlight on the blue, or in fact have blue and turquoise if you didnt want the purple.

I think I've settled on Levithan. But I'm gonna cheat abit and not make their skin pure white, for the reasons you guys stated.
Anyway, I tried making a test model and here's the result:

Any CC would be nice

Looks pretty solid. If you want to add anything else, for detail say, or on the larger beasties, I would suggest doing the gun a contrasting colour, or maybe include some stippling patterns, spots etc along the boundaries between the plates and the skin.

Ah, I knew I had forgotten something, hadn't even thought about the gun, I'll look into that. I think I forgot about it cause I ignored doing the claws in another colour. I'll store your advice about the bigger creature for when I get them. Thanks!
