I've accumulated a decent amount of High Elves over the years, and now I'm thinking that I want to get them on the gaming table. Here's my first draft of a build list, for your critiquing.

Lords (340)

Archmage 340pts
Talisman of Endurance
Feedback Scroll
High Magic
(Level Four)
(General)

Heroes (338)

Mage 170pts
Silver Wand
Guardian Phoenix
Heavens Magic
(Level Two)

Noble 168pts
Great Weapon
Armor of Destiny
(Battle Standard Bearer)

Core (735)

24 Spearkin 256pts
Full Command
Standard of Discipline

20 Spearkin 205pts
Full Command

12 Archers 137pts
Musician

12 Archers 137pts
Musician

Special (735)

1 Tiranoc Chariot 85pts

1 Tiranoc Chariot 85pts

15 White Lions of Chrace 285pts
Full Command
Lion Standard
Ironcurse Icon (Champion)

15 Phoenix Guard 280pts
Full Command
War Banner
Potion of Foolhardiness (Champion)

Rare (50)

1 Great Eagle 50pts

Points: 2,198

Thinking of ditching the Lion Standard from the White Lions in favor of something else. The Potion of Foolhardiness is just in the list to bring me closer to 2,200 points, so I could easily move those points around as well. Thanks for reading.

Hi there! I've only been playing HE for a little while, but in that time I've got a pretty good grasp of the game. Here's what I think:

I've never used the Feedback Scroll, but for a "One Use" item at 50 points, I feel that you can probably invest it into something better. I'd actually consider taking the Silver Wand instead. Getting a 5th spell with your Archmage could be prudent, especially in times when you want a better chance of the spell being cast. It'll also increase your chances of getting to pick a spell too. Upgrade to the Talisman of Preservation, and your Archmage will be much better protected.

For your Mage, I would consider dropping what you're currently using, and take the Annulian Crystal instead. For 40 points, you're guaranteed an extra Dispel die every time it's your opponents magic phase, and he's guaranteed to lose one. With only 12 possible dice at most, these dice will count for quite a bit.

For your Noble, I would give him the Armor of Caledor instead, along with the Guardian Phoenix. It still adds up to 168 points, but now you have a better Armor Save, and a Ward Save only 1 step worse.

I would consider putting your Spearmen into one horde of 44 with Full Command. It would save you 25 points, which would allow you to take another 2 Spearmen, and now you can take full advantage of their Martial Prowess ability, being able to attack with 4 ranks on a charge.

Archers are, IMO, a tad expensive for their points. You did the right thing in giving them only a Musician, but in my experience, they're most effective when taken in bigger groups (such as 2 or 3 groups of 20). YMMV, but that's just my opinion of them.

I would consider dropping the 2 Tiranoc Chariots and taking a single White Lion Chariot instead. They are all around a much better unit, and even though you're giving up 2 units in favor of 1, the quality of attacks you'd get from the White Lion Chariot pays for itself quickly, I think.

I would also consider putting at least 20 models in your White Lion and Phoenix Guard squads. At a 2200 point game, 735 points worth of Special units seems very light. You want closer to 1,000 at least, if you can manage it.

For the White Lions, I would give them either the Banner of Eternal Flame or War Banner. HE Leadership is high enough that you can reliably make most Ld tests, and as long as you're close by the BSB, you'll have a cushion for rerolling. For the Phoenix Guard, get them a Banner of Sorcery. For 50 points, you'll get another D3 Power Dice added to your pool on each of your Magic Phases. Considering you have 2 Mages, this will go a very long way.

Great choice. The Eagle will help a lot when facing Warmachines, and will help with disrupting enemy units from their Flank or Rear.

You can definitely make better use of your points than with the potion. And in light of everything else that I said, I would also consider dropping one of your Archer squads as well, and add more to your Elite choices. With HE, you don't really need more than the minimum of Core choices, and at 11 points per model, Archers would get the "boot" so to speak, in this case. Use those points to add more to your Elite choices, and for the upgrades I mentioned, if you have the points for them (which I'm pretty sure you should have).

Good luck!

I like the list but agree with the above statement. White Lion chariots are the way to go. After what my one did to a ogre hoard Im going to invest some money and get another ASAP.
