Every now and then one of these threads pops up. I redesigned my workspace a few months ago. No longer on the same desk as my computer, but right next to it where I don't have to move my chair.

I usually keep my paint drawer on the table for quick access, and after my last purchase of a few paints I realized I need a second drawer for them. Most of my GW paints I transferred into dropper bottles and made
labels for them. Saves space and just generally makes things easier for me. At $.30 each it wasn't too bad to do 100 GW paints.

This is my original bits solution. Each drawer had bits from each army or project. God only knows what all I have hiding in there.

Top shelf is still on sprue stuff that needs construction. Second shelf is WiP models and units. Bottom shelf(not shown) is a tub of basing, mold making, and wash making supplies.

Alas, the bits have outgrown their drawers. The big tub is mostly still sprue stuff. The 3 bead boxes are army specific bits, I started organizing them as I got them instead of having one giant cluster feth of bits together.

Under my desk I have my compressor.

I'd say it's an improvement over my last setup.

I couldn't resist...you must all think I am that warhammer player that was on Season 2 of Horders...

Actually I think I was playing Oblivion at this time, so I really didn't clean like I should. It looks a lot better now. if you want I can upload a picture of my finger sliced up and held together with stiches. Because of the mess, I wasn't focused and a wood knife cut me deep...

Really small space. Lighting is horrible too in there.

And now it is all packed up as I move back to school this weekend.

small spaces are fine. When I still lived at home and shared a room with my brother I painted on a night stand that was about 1 square foot.

1 square foot is about what i've got now. You really learn how to prioritize your space, and clean up when you're done with something...

One problem, though, is an ever increasing number of tools, and lack of places to put them (i.e. getting them out of sight). I've been looking for a solution, that's something like a toolbox with drawers at the buttom, so you can throw in the larger tools in the big, top room, and put the smaller ones you use more on the drawers (such as glue, knives, GS and the alike!)

pictures from the last thread, I like these, It lets me see what others have to work with.

I usually sit on the couch and work off the stools, so the bench on the left is just used for storage

I should rephrase. I didn't have 1 square foot to PAINT in. I had 1 square foot of total surface room to hold paint, brushes, models etc.

Gah... I hate small working spaces... One tool or mini too many on the table, and you're up to your neck in it!

Just a quick question, I See massive piles of sprue everywhere in alot of these pics, is this a backlog of stuff or do you keep spares on the sprue?

For me ... i just keep the parts on the sprue till the project is done .. After its done .. any spare parts got to the bin and i recycle the sprue into base material or material for terrain.

That's about what I had on my nightstand back in the day.

Thanks.

I had originally set it up to host semi-regular game nights for my friends/ gaming club, though our schedules have gotten busy in the last year or so, but my two sons are starting to play 40k now, so it still gets a lot of use...

My usual setup can be seen on the first page of a prior "show us your workspace" thread (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/327761.page). The desk and table are currently stripped bare, except for my laptop (exterminators came through the apartment recently), so I maytry and reorganize to give myself a bit more table space for larger projects when I set everything back up. More than likely, things will get packed in just as tightly as they were before.

Out of my mind, back in 5 minutes.

On the small side but I appreciate it a little more after seeing that little table and a box and hearing about the nightstand as a workspace.
