I was wondering what people thought of running 90 point Maneaters (C-Sword and Armor) in a unit with a slaughter master and another one with a tyrant...
Essentially they are Super Sword Gnoblars... and can take wounds from shooting.

Maneaters are waaaay overpriced.
you pay almost 3 times the cost of a bull for what? some fancy weapon options and no increase in survivability.

Outside of the modeling aspect, and having a more diverse looking army, you have to try really, really hard to find a reason to take them.
A unit of 1 man eater, joined by a butcher (in the 2nd rank) isn't bad. 4S5 attacks, and 3 supporting from the butcher; along with ItP.
The real reason to leave maneaters at home is the benefits (+1S, stubborn) can be covered by magic, and the +1 attack, can be covered by supporting attacks.
No matter how you shake it, a maneater isn't 45 points better than a 35 point bull.

The only difference I could see between the 35 point bull and the 90 point Man Eater is:
The ability to run around on its own and charge units that cannot beat an ogre with only 2 columns...
The ability to charge with a slaughter master or a tyrant against a unit and only allow them 2 columns to swing with.
Automatically Appended Next Post: In addition, compare the minimum cost to put the said character into a unit so he may not be picked out easily... Maneater is 90ish while ogre is 105...

I like maneaters with a brace of hanguns. The shooting is more reliable than Leadbelchers. But I don't take them in anything less than 2500; as has been said, too expensive.
However, I have heard of people making a Tyrant+maneater 'torpedo': using the two in a unit, giving the Tyrant ItP and a few wounds as a safety net. Never used it myself though.
