Hey everyone!

I just finished putting these two models together. Both required a little conversion work. I wish I had taken some pics in process, but hindsight is 20/20. The Dread is a standard AoBR model that I chopped apart, repositioned and added some bits to. There is a bit of green stuff work there as well. The base was made with Sculpey and baked in the oven to harden it up. I know you can see my fingerprints a little right now, but I'm planning on painting the base to look like enamel tiles... as such, the gloss coat will even out the fingerprints and you won't be able to see them.

The second model is going to be a Terminator Sarge for my Dark Angels army. He has a wrist mounted Storm Bolter and his staff will count as a Power Weapon. I used a Chain Sword tip because I thought it looked cool. I'm sure some of the gamers in my local clubs will complain that it's a Chainfist or some nonsense. There is a lot of conversion work on this one also. The front tabard is green stuff... my first attempt! I'm happy with the results, but know I'll do better in the future.

Let me know what you think. I'll post more pics as I do some painting.

Why don't you use a power weapon blade instead of the chainsword, therefore it looks cool and its essentially WYSIWYG. Almost like a glaive.

I started with a DA Power Sword... didn't really like the way it looked. Since Terminators can't have Chainswords, I figure it pretty much is WYSIWYG.

Personaly i think that both look great. I used the same idea for my sarge that i made a while back but i used a powersword and not a chainsword, although i do see what you mean when you say you did it because it looked cool.

Did you base the termie off of a GK termie? Oh and I personally love the power chainblade glaive thing. The dreadnought looks awesome, especially out of an AoBR one. In the grim darkness of the far future even warmachines get loincloths. Praise be the Emperor!

The Termie is just a standard one from the shootie termie box. I did shave the head down to make it look like a Grey Knight head and I used one of the termie arms that hooks to a shield with a storm bolter and a regular fist from a normal sized marine to make the wrist mounted storm bolter. The staff started life as a Thunder Hammer.

Wow, excellent conversion work. I'm planning on doing much of the same with my own Terminators. Did you just shave down the sides and pin out the "holes" in it. Very nicely done.

Yeah... I shaved the head down. If you look at the GK heads, they are missing another little nub on the top. I chose to leave it. I drilled the little holes using the standard GW Hobby Drill. Afterwards, I went and bought a smaller drill bit from a hardware store so I can make more and smaller holes next time.

Thanks a lot, this is supremely helpful as I want the more "knight" looking helmets but don't want to base it on the metal GKs (especially as I already have 15 plastic terminators). I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

Looking good, dude. I especially like the Dreadnought.

What primer did you use?

I used the standard GW brand primer on this model... I'm not tied to it, but it's good stuff. I find getting a good even coat without gumming up the model is more about technique than the actual primer you use.

In other words, lots of thin spritzes from about 8-10 inches away will get you a much better coverage than a couple of blasts from up close. I've seen so many people damage a models details by over spraying.

I do use the ColorPlace Flat Grey Primer quite often as well. It comes from Walmart and costs about a buck. They have a Black as well, but it comes out a little shiny for my taste. If I'm doing anything really light, like Imperial Fists or something, I'll use the GW White Spray. I've tried others, but I like the GW coverage the best... most whites seem to be either too thick or too runny. I've always had luck with GW sprays.

I did a little painting on the Dread today. It's by no means done, but I figure if I take a picture, I might as well post it! lol
