So I did some searching around and am looking to make my own Tervigon, the great "gaunt" breeder and as I've seen many conversions that follow the theme of the creature I have not yet seen any two that are the same. I did notice that Chapterhouse has a kit to make one using help from the GW Carnifex kit; so has any one used this and have they liked the out come? Or is scratch built with green stuff and grey stuff the way to go for one of these models?

1.) Eventually, GW will make a Tervigon kit, maybe October, maybe later.
2.) My chapterhouse Tervigon conversion kit is in the mail. I will post a pic, when it is ready. Will become HQ tervigon
3.) There are some very fine pregnant Carnifex conversions out there that go a similar route. Just have a search here.
4.) I also use two Russian made models (first pic) and two old Armorcast Malefactors (second pic) to present the Tervigon. Actually, I painted the Armorcast model, when noone thought of a possible Tervigon and we at best had the BolS data sheet for Armorcast models.

i scratch built a Tervigon using putty and bits. The basic body is a secondhand Carnifex.
It's not hard to do a nice Tyranid using putty because the organic form is very forgiving of low sculpting skills, as you can see from my pic.
I've got a Chapterhouse kit, which I will use as the basis for a Tyrannofex. I haven't built it yet. The bits look nice.
Most resin kits need a bit of skillz and putty to complete them well. That said, so do a lot of GW kits.
The plus point of Chapterhouse is that once you have one Tervigon, you realise how great they are on table, and you will want a second. With Chapterhouse, you will easily be able to build two very similar creatures for not much effort.
I will have to do a lot of puttying again to make my second Tervigon. Although for me, as I convert all my Tyranids to snake creatures, I have to do a lot of puttying anyway.

With the chapter house kit does that build right over the top of a carnifex or do you have to basically merge from the start of building and just build both kits together or into one another?
I've done some kit bashing in the past with old aircraft and star trek models so either way wouldn't be a new process for me.

It's a merge from the start, as the parts extend the main body to a bigger volume basically.

If any of you build one of the chapter house tervigons, please add the Carnifex Spine banks on top of the CHS spinebanks. I have yet to see someone combine the two bitz.

They don't combine. I did play around with it at first and I just did not like the look of it.

So after much time and effort I finished both of my Chapterhouse varient Tervigons. No sooner did I get the second one started did GW drop their Tervigon kit. Oh well I say to that. Most of the pics are from the second of the two I did because it's a much crisper looking paint job, I put the birth sac pics of both and you can really tell the difference between the two. A couple of the pics are just little details I added to the bases to add flavor, one has some chaos bits on it, the other has a ripper on side and a Boltgun on the base near some form of tech.

I can't blame him. Most old posts should be just left to die. But if you actually have something to add it beats starting a brand new thread. Besides with models and hobbies sometimes it takes a while.
