Hello again fellow Dakkites!
A select few of you will remember me from maybe a month past as a post as many things possible annoying chatty fella, and then most of you will never have heard or even acknowlegded my existence, but ho-hum, best carry onwards.

In the past I've posted threads and articles about a so-called Space Wolf successor of my own devising, the Crimson Claws. But, since those peaceful times my mind has changed several times, it really boggles me . Well, I've gave up the idea of this chapter in order to persue a greater project that has always appealed to me. These pictures posted below are of my current-ish project and please don't mock me or be mean, I'm very new to painting just not to collecting.

Your painting looks nice and tidy, but maybe a little flat. I'd recommend having a go with light drybrushing and washes.

If you start the models off with the normal black basecoat, then go over again with a tank brush or similar with a thin coat of black, then lightly drybrush with Codex Grey - then do your silver - then wash the whole lot with Badab Black.
That should give you a table-top quality like mine (and thanks for the comments on my Blog )

Skin and hair can be done well with drybrush/wash mix as well, although I've not got the hang of skin myself! Obviously there's better techniques, but I think mine is an easy starting point.

Thanks for the reply m8, and np. Yeh I do agree its flat but there are no Games Workshops near me so I'm making short work with few paints, for the time being. I will take in your comment and try and adapt it to my Deathwatch Pedro Kantor. Otherwise thanks for the good comment.

Yes, you defenetly need some drybrushing on these.

Add in some pupils please, they look somewhat demented at present...

LOL, yeh sorry about that Imperial Monkey, like I've said I'm new and had difficulty with the pupils so I'm gonna paint them up first then attempt it.

Yeh I agree with you Miss Dee. I've got a huge army left to paint so hopefully I'll get rather good soon. At the moment I'm in the process of painting up my Ultramarine, Salamanders, Subjugator Sergeant and Mortifactor Deathwatch marines and I'm working on my Deathwatch rendition of Pedro Kantor. Also I've finished my 2nd Space Wolf and my Imperial Fist, oh, and Imperial Monkey I've gave all my marines pupils now

P3 is a good range ... um I mean it's fan freaking tastic range.

Well, I'm planning on ordering some things from Forge World soon, I could order the character conversion kit and make a Son of Medusa as my squad sergeant.

I think for your first try you did a damn good job. The more you paint the better you will get. Always make sure that you thin your paints and learn how to use the drybrush technique. Try GOOGLE searching "How to paint 28mm models", you will get a ton of great Videos and how to's! Keep up the great work and keep posting so we can see your progress. Also if you have any questions about painting techniques post them here in your thread. Lots of people will come to your aid!

I'm planning on ordering some more supplies such as Botlgun Metal paint and some Foundation Paints, Plastic Glue etc. So, whilst in the process Miss Dee I'll order the Iron Hand Squad and make a cool Son of Medusa Veteran Sergeant for my Tactical Squad.
Hopefully, it will appeal to your taste.

You asked me to visit you topic so here I am

You wanted my honest opinion so here it is. You mentioned that you are new to painting and there is nothing bad in it. Some people wrote that practice is important ant they are right but I will add that the most important thing in painting is having self-esteem to paint and I see you want to do it. As for the painting I think you need more paints and different colors. If you want to paint fast you can use the drybrush technique but in my opinion if you apply your colors clean and then wash them they will look 10 times better so I suggest you go in that direction. I think you should work on dark linking because it helps to distinguish elements of minis and it makes your paintwork clean. So buy some washes and make some experiments in shading with them (I would suggest you to buy Debad Black, Delvian Mud and maybe that wash used for skin).

Thank you for your honest opinion. I do agree yeh, I need to use more paints but atm I'm working on small resources as I mentioned earlier in this blog. I do have Devlan Mud but I'm not sure on how to use the washes.

Using washes is just like using paint. Just like paint, you don't want it too thick. Otherwise, just dip your brush in and paint it on the area you want it. Mostly you'd want to use a wash that corresponds with the color you've used on your model. Ex. I use Thrakka Green on my Ork Skin and Ogryn Flesh on any skin. Devlan Mud is good I find on wood, metal and bone. Badab Black is pretty universal too. Watch out for pooling which will leave a big dark blob where it pools. To avoid pooling, don't use too much and spread it as it dries (this works for me).

First time I used a wash I had no idea what I was doing and I used too much. Lost alot of color. So just give it a shot and see how it works. Ain't gonna learn if you don't try. (Tell that to my step-son all the time, but it falls on deaf ears.)

Thacka green on my sons of medusa. tho the Iron Hands are not to happy with them (see IA10) what primer do you use Bunnygurl?

I use just regular GW Black and White spray primer. What color I use depends on the model, ex. white for High Elves, black for Orks. I've thought about trying out the army painter sprays but I'm not in need of them right now.

I use the army painters on My Sons of Medusa its fantastic.

Thanks for the advice Miss Dee. I'm actually thinkinh of changing these into Blood Angels because of the new releases (Furioso+Stormraven=Heaven)

Yeh, thats my favourite part of it all But, I've had an epiphony and have decided to deck out the remainder of my marines Blood Angel style.
