Oh I forgot you were on holiday! Have fun and I'm sure it'll be waiting at the PO when you get home. Nothing has arrived here yet but Monday is more likely methinks.

Female followers of Nurgle you say? Well I've made a few. Hags mainly but some who are far less so. Naturally they're none GW Malifaux and Confrontation models. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/240/231101.page#5791769

Cheers if I have the time I will. After all I do have a 150 man IG army with 5 GW models in it. Is a paint job and correct use enough or do you desire something more esoteric?

Well it'll be marked based on imaginative adaptation, so you could, for instance, take a wargames foundry greatcoat and go, "Hey, look, he's DKOK" which would be OK, but I'd rather there was some rebuilding involved also (like your confrontation>admech stuff).

From and To, I suppose. Take an Eldar Jetbike or Vyper, but instead of a rider/ driver, build up a solid shell and add some bits to make it match Wraithguard/Wraithlord heads.

Enjoy your holiday, mate!

To answer you back to front, am only holiday on Spain indeed, but only for one more day would be to easy to eat myself stupid here I'll tell you that. Very sunburnt though - my back looks like the top of a lasagne...

Comp is not officially running yet as haven't finalised the rules (or judges!) But by all means share thoughts and WIPs - not you though Vik, you've got far too much else to finish first
Glad you like your goodies (and cheesecake ); why are you feeling old?

OK, to be clear it would need to NOT be a 40k>40k conversion. It could however be WFB > 40k with 40k bits, as per the chick in your blog.

Ah, gotcha. I was responding to the cool Landspeeder you did for Panda's contest. The Dreadnought sarcophagus reminded me of what I was thinking of with the jetbikes/vypers.

But that sounds like a cool idea for a contest.... I plan on doing some of that for my Eldar, but I don't think they'll be very original....

Depending on how strongly you feel about it you might consider making it specifically about repurposing a GW miniature for another system? That's a bigger statement/stronger theme which could be good or bad depending on your motivation. Also remember to include rules on bases and such. The DPC rules might be worth checking as they cover 99% of issues.

DPC? And I think I want to leave this open to folk as much as possible - there are people going both ways to and from GW, this is about spuring folk onto using stuff in imaginative ways. BTW, I got the enormous package from you thanks mate and got back from Spain to find the bits I'm sending you at the bottom of a suitcase - they are now definitely en route to you

Good man, and yes, absolutely.

Should have a working version of contest rules later today or tomorrow. In the mean time, having seen how much folk are raising the bar with the Speed contest, I leave you what my deranged brain came up with as a base for the LS Tempest:

I shall endeavour to do so, mate.

Also, here is my outline of the Contest rules, shamelessly adapted from Briancj's:
Spoiler:

The Great Repurposing Contest

Please spread this around on your plogs. Thanks.

--------------

The contest theme:
Repurposing – that is taking a miniature from one system and remodelling, repainting or otherwise repurposing it for another. We all go through phases in our gaming, and often pretty love-hate with GW. The aim is to spur creativity and use what you have lying around to some other, more current purpose.

The rules:
The piece must be recognisably part of the system you are aiming for. Generic future soldiers used as guard wouldn’t cut it; with the addition of aquilae, they would (at least, at a basic level). You need to provide clear pictures of your base model and bits, indicating what system it is from, and explain what system you are repurposing it for. The more imaginative and creative your approach, the greater your overall chance of success. There is no limitation on what system you repurpose to and from; you can stay within the same manufacturer (for example, Spartan’s Dystopian Wars to Uncharted Seas) or entirely different (for example, an Urban War Viridian to WH40k Guardsman). Crossing manufacturers will, however, be rewarded.

Scoring:

A maximum score of 100 is possible. Ties will be broken by the judges. If the judges are deadlocked, I will call upon readers of this plog to vote. If THAT deadlocks, I'll declare a tie, and divide up the prizes appropriately.

Repurposing: Core Model. These points are not cumulative; imaginative use of bits from a range of manufacturers (or just random stuff) will count in your favour.
Core model is declared simply to be “for another system” - 0 points
Core model is from the same manufacturer – up to 10 points
Core model is from a different manufacturer – up to 15 points

Basing:
I love a good base. I’m not going to be shy in including that as a criterion. These points ARE cumulative.
Model is based – 0 points
Model is based in a way that repurposes other items – up to 10 points
Model is based in a way that adds narrative – up to 10 points

Modeling:
These points ARE cumulative. A focus on techniques and designs that are easy to copy/emulate will score more points, here. You're helping the masses make terrain. A unique entry might be something that makes the judges go 'ah-ha, that's a GREAT idea'. This is where you can score points for originality of design.
Entry shows a unique idea - 10 points
Entry is visually interesting - 10 points
Entry is visually distinct from the original Core Model- 10 points

Painting:
Points are not cumulative. Minimum three colors. Washes and highlights to qualify as well painted, at a minimum. Amazingly well painted is something that wows the judges. Roughly, painting scores will be as follows
Entry is painted to a basic standard - 10 points
Entry is well painted - 15 points
Entry s well painted and uses unusual techniques - 25
Entry is amazingly well painted - 35 points

-----------

Weight will be given to people who come up with UNIQUE, creative uses for things lying around in bits boxes!
You may not use creations, and as with all League competitions, show your work. Deadline for entries is Thursday September 26th, 2013. Judging will occur a few days later, over the weekend. There will be no extensions allowed, as you’ve got plenty of time and had a heads-up already.

Submit your "WiP" photograph ASAP here in The Ordo Bloggit. With your completed photograph, submit an explanation of what you’ve repurposed for.

The prizes:
Oh-ho-ho. The prizes are very much in keeping with the theme also. But I’ll keep you in suspense just a little longer on that one till we decide to give it the Go light (19th August, probably).

Any thoughts? (also, I will need help judging!)

One addition... you need a blast of fusion fire exiting the tempest on the other side... with bits of half-molten metal plate flying everywhere.

Well that would be one way of explaining all the gaps I spent an hour with liquid gs filling today, actually. I've redone the exarch's base - I'm planning on doing him predominantly white over red base, as if glowing - against the black of the DW tempest.

I love that empire battle wizard - the way you've painted him is very grimdark 40k though so he looks the part.

I'm not 100% percent sure that using a thermic lance as a prop for a landspeeder works visually. But it would look the part if you painted it to look like he is burning a hole in the bottom of it. Also I'm amazed it doesn't bend with that on top!!

The plastic empire battle wizard kit is constant source of joy. There was a contest a while back for converting fantasy wizards into 40k, I took a lot of inspiration from it.

I know what you mean, but I like the idea of him catching a swipe at it as it goes past. I'm still really torn on colour schemes for him - I'm considering
1) Classic fire dragon (red, yellow helm)
2) Red blended up through orange/yellow/white
3) Green, for a really striking contrast
4) Bone with purple helm (cormadepanda's scheme)

Bearing in mind the Tempest will be black - any thoughts? The other thing is whether to actually do a thermite lance blast emerging from the other side. I'm not in theory averse to it (although I have no idea what it would look like) but it turns a playable model on a (theoretically) cool base into a diorama.

Hmm.

so... graven... i am in... so very much

and as for the updated base... i like that idea... yet...i think a lil piece of clear plastic rod is in order... just placing it on a gun... i don´t think so that any eldar would fight that way as to do such a close shot...?

Hurrah! I take your point Vik but the hover-height of LS happens to be exactly the clearance of a thermite lance. Too good an opportunity not to use!
Also, I hate you all

The 2nd shot gives a truer indication of the fact that the cinematic is coming out at the right angle (I range a piece of wire all the way through the model. Yay.) Should I have it ending in spray or a thin beam?

Right here, and welcome aboard! I think that given the enthusiasm I'm just going to declare this contest... open! Myself and Briancj will be judging. I've had some excellent feedback on the rules, which I'm going to repost:

Urban War Sabre CLAU

Wargods Heru archers (and more)

Confrontation Griffin Conscripts & Wolfen repentant 2

Scibor Sci-Fi Knight (Templar #6)

(Although doesn't come with scenic base)

Top 3, and a Rule of Cool prize (to be given to one entry for sheer coolness!). The prizes listed are not in order - first place, first choice, and so on.
Oh - and just to add more fuel to the fire, I'm going to do participation prizes.

Yup.

As in, you finish, you get something.

Well I had best get some pictures sorted then- this actually gives me an incentive to do something I've wanted to do for a while.
Things to follow...

Right, this is the start of my entry into the"Repurposing Contest".

I'm starting with this (sorry for the stock photo- I had already broken it before I had chance to take a picture), an AT-43 Karman, and turning it into a 40K Ork.

I've already pulled off his gorilla head and replaced his feet with some Ork boots chopped off of one of the plastic Boyz sprues, and started to add some Orky bitz! Going to need a fair bit of green stuffing on this one!

And the pack thing on his back is crying out to be grunged up, so I'm thinking Stormboy.

I'm not one for remembering to take WIP pictures (I tend to get in the zone and don't come out until I'm finished), so the next likely shot would be a finished picture!
