Subject: Iwata compressors, power jet lite vs pro

Anyone out there have experience with these 2 compressors? I am torn a bit between the Iwata Stuido Power Jet Pro vs Power Jet Lite. The difference between the 2 is that the pro has a tank and can run 2 brushes at one, and is equipped with two nozzles, regulators etc etc. I do not need to run two brushes at once (although switching between 1 and the other brush without mucking about would be cool!), but I am imagining that the pro will not have to run the compressor every time I touch the airbrush will allow it to run less once the tank is full. Maybe I'm wrong and the tank will be refilled every time I touch the airbrush anyways? In which case I could go with the lite no worries.
Help??
p.s - I have a garage compressor, it is a little pulsy but runs fine, it is just too loud and big for me, and I'd really like to work inside too.
Thanks in advance (Mistress of minis, are you there lol?)

I'd get the Pro version if it was between the two. If not, I'd get the Power Jet which has a 3.5L tank w/o the dual brush feature. I wouldn't get a compressor without a tank b/c there won't be a constant pressure. I'd imagine especially for lower psi for detail work, this will become apparent. The pro should fill up the tank and shut off completely. Once you start airbrushing and the tank goes below a certain pressure point, the motor should kick in again and charge the tank back up.
Also, if you want the convenience of switching between brushes quickly, you can always buy a quick release valve. You'll see it mentioned in the MM tutorial video you just downloaded. Ebay should have some for cheap.

mmm can't seem to find the power jet with single bursh and 3.5 litre tank... I think it may be discontinued...
What about others? Any comments on this, or suggestions for another compressor you think is as good???

I have the TC20T. It's a comparable compressor to most anything out there and is cheap. When I first got it, the regulator was a little tricky, but it probably needed to be broken in first.
It seems they have the single output Iwata compressor, but I can't see anything that would convince me to buy it over the TC20T.

I'd take a look at the sparmax compressors. I think Iwata uses them for their air compressors and just rebrands it. I know my local Deserres carries their product. I'd check Deserres in Montreal...there should be a few local to you. I'd get any of their models which come with a tank, TC-610, TC-620, TC-63, etc.

Do yourself a favor, go to airbrushcity.com and buy one of there compressors, they are cheap and reliable. I have been using mine for 7years now and I only paid 50$ for it.

Eggroll, you save my butt yet again. I looked at the Omer Desserres site but they didnt mention any airbrush stuff. Called in, got someone I used to work with (I worked there like 10 years), he got me a TC-610 at a sweet price! Significantly cheaper than the Iwata I was just about to spring for on Amazon lol! You are the shizzle my friend.
Redfinger, absolutely there are cheaper out there, and they work just as well most of the time! The big price difference here is for a marginal increase in performance, but a huge decrease in noise. As I want to work inside (my garage is heated, but far, far too humid) and not have my wife throw frying pans at my head lol!
Listen thank you all, love this forum!

LUCKY! I had the same problem with Deserres not listing any of the compressors online so I ended up calling local stores and finding out what they had. Good to hear you got the hookup though. I know they had a 25% off everything boxing day sale back in 2009. I'll be checking them this year and if they run the same thing, I'll be picking up a compressor from them as well. Let me know how the TC-610 works out.
