well, lets see
the chaplain looks.....gritty in spots
i like the trygon, one of the top models you have pictured paint job wise i think
the ork has some rough spots, but seems like a good start
the land raider, rhino and vindicator....yea, thin your paints, and work on getting a straight edge with the green
land speeder- again the green, but with that and the cleanup in should be ok
daemon prince..the face just keeps making me think crazy mutant ork

The Tyranid is definitely the best, the highlights on the back spine look great.

The rest definitely needs touch up. Definitely paint thinning will be the way to go, the tanks are in the worse shape, but just simply thinning those paints down and getting a good base coat down will help with that alot.

Thank you for your comments.
I know what you mean about the chaplain, he looks a lot better in real life, though he is still not very good. Good thing he's metal: oven cleaner should take that paint right off.
The rhino is possibly my worst paint job here: i have countless coats of paint on him, and some aren't even thinned! it definitely needs a repaint. i will look into simple green, as i don't really like my current set up with pinesol, it makes the plastic waaaay too brittle.
also, how's the paint on the daemon prince, besides the small sloppy bitz, as they look like mold. Unfortunately, his scythe won't stay on. i might need to figure out a way to pin it to the hand, or something.

also, here are some more pics:

my blood axe nob. started out as a test on whether or not i could do digital camo, but failed epically, so i just used regular camo. note the cigar, and scratchbuilt case.

dark eldar kabalite warriors. i made my own color scheme for them, what do you think?

dark eldar wyches.

dark eldar succubus w/ agonizer. please ignore the banner, i redid it after the pic, but it is still

Hey Glow! I like your range of models, some very nice ones , i think your conversion of the ork to add a cigar was clever and well implemented. Your colour pallete is good. If i could suggest a few tips i think would significantly improve your models, i would say take more time and practice making sure you get a nice fluid paint mix and paint on the body parts and not say onto armour or weapons as well. keeping the model neat looking first . try to keep the colours seperate. And i tjink you should invest in some wash's like devlan mud, to tie the whole model together. a last tip would be to try and use natural light to photograph your models as the flash can wash out with white light your hard work . hope this didnt come accross as condesending , i like your work just think it would improve a lot with neater lines.
Good work regardless and thanks for sharing.

As said elsewhere you should consider thinning your paint so you can get a smoother finish.

Hey! I have seen you around on Papa-N....and now I see you here. Well time and focus should be a part of your painting regime. Your technique can be improved but do not feel bad, not everyone starts off like Da Vinci. So good job so far but time and practice will help you out greatly. Secondly, are you spraying your primer on? I assume thats why the Chaplain looks gritty. If so I had the same problem and opted to just hand paint the primer on. Lastly, what kind of paints are you using, this can also be part of the thickness in the opacity.

Spray primer has a key but ought not make the surface gritty.
I get the feeling that you are a painter in a hurry.

You are losing details at times which suggests a lot of overpainting. It may be worth spending a bit of time stripping rather than overpainting on old models.

You seem however to have a good sense of colour, and with a little more practice at keeping the paints thinner as suggest will do just fine.

Okay, i like a challenge seriously though.
2 big points here; you NEED to thin down your paints, and you NEED to look at your brushes.
I'm seeing allot of bristles on your models, which come loose from poorly cared for brushes and stick to the model.
Also it looks like your trying to over complicate things, id try a simpler paint scheme to start with on.
REMEMBER you don't have to pick out EVERY detail to make a finished model look great

Erm you also guys check out some basic painting advice on rulebook or something do not over-do it with the paints and always clean your brush from the much color so as to let just a few amount of color on it. Try to be more accurate on every detail you are painting, eg. lines n stuff and use thin brushes. Practice as much as possible nothing is that difficult if you learn the way to do it

Thin and use washes. Also, your highlights, on the kabalite warriors in particular, are a little big. You should practice getting fine lines and follow the contours of the model.

The trygon is very nice! The daemon prince conversion is cool also. I really like the scheme for the Kabal warriors, and i like the touch on the wych where she has wiped the blood off the dagger with her cloth, very cool. The warriors are a bit messy but i know from experience they are VERY fiddly to paint. I am afraid you may have to 'strip' the space marine vehicles but there are many good tutorials on how to do this on the tutorial section of this forum. Otherwise Best of luck and we all appreciate you sharing your models with us

thanks for all of the replies! i agree with your comments, and hope to improve based on them. The lines in the models are probably mostly my own hair, as i have incredibly long hair, and bits of it sometimes come out (the amount is healthy, for hair as long as mine), so that may be what you mean. i do have some pretty bad brushes, though. it's a good thing that i am more careful now. The chaplain was started a long time ago, back before i used gw primer (i used this weird gray stuff). that could explain the chipping.

by the way, i am working on a looted leman russ for my grot rebels. it is going to be covered in rust.

and phantomninja, what's your forum name on papa nurgle?

I agree with watering down your paints. You are painting way to thick. If you did that, and slowed down a little you can improve the quality of your paint jobs by alot. Your off to a good start though, your trying techniques that many dont. Also if you find doing the edging to hard to get a fine detail line, buy some really thin paint pens or micro art pens. Its super easy and the lines look perfect everytime.
