well after 4 years of gaming through which I have lost one full army to my little sister i have decided to scratch build a warhound titan for my salamanders army using lack of's templates now my first impression was that this will be mind numbingly hard but to my surprise it has been easyish (so far)
things you will need should you try this
1. card lots of card (cereal boxes are good card)
2. I have used cellotape instead of hot glue due to my low funds but either will work (I assume cellotape is difficult to paint)
3. a pen
4. a ruler
5. a set of sharp scissors
6. the templates which I will post a pdf file below if allowed as i took me a week to get a hold of a copy
I started off doing the obvious thing printing off the templates which again if allowed I will post a pdf version at the end of this thread
so back on track i printed the templates twice as you need two feet legs ect and I then cut the templates I needed out and then copied onto stiff card
here's the pdf

I'm at about the same point on a plasticard warhound with that same template. I'm just starting on the torso. The feet were the hardest part so far, but I'm not looking forward to the head. Mine is reasonably strong. How is your friend doing his?

So it took you 5 hours to do the waist down? Seems pretty damn good so far. I might (might) do one too. Dunno...maybe...

my friend is doing his using quit thick plasticard don't know what thickness but his is cutting all panes out and then cutting them at 45 degrees rather than folding it.
It looks far better than mine but hell mines card and cellotape is completely free and is stronger than his
will try and get him to join and post pics hehe smiling flame Automatically Appended Next Post: Also just to point my painting looks far better in real life

Well you could have made a great battlefield of dead marines or what ever she smashed, like the first world war battlefield, hands legs and torsos sticking out of the mud.
You must have really pissed her off tho.

yknow if you lightly brushed white glue in the inside it would dry real strong. you can also paint the glue over the outside and it would cover the tape. Primer may stick to the tape ok but aint sure.

Been looking through he pdf and I'm completely stumped as to how you are supposed to make the pistons. Also did you somehow print the template onto the card? (if not how did you cut them out right?)

The template for this version are pretty good, if you just want to use thick paper the whole thing can be done in a day, I did it last year in about 7 hours. (a rush job, just to show that it could be done)

Take the time to make it look good, as it will be an awesome center piece. =)
Oh, my link also has my scratch built warlord titan. Hope it can give some encouragement.

@ jonolikespie i'm not doing any pistons but i gues straws would look good and i cellotape the page onto a piece of card then cut that out (some of the cuts are a nightmare to do i recommend using a knife and mat)
@ uscmbuzz will take that in mind as it sounds like good idea i was worried about the card absorbing the paint and becoming soggy the glue would prevent that ( I think)
also no progression today as i have to many chores to do as being 17 sucks in a lot of ways

do you reckon it'll survive paint, transport in a case and it's own weight?
