I have been thinking about a hero build to take on those annoying suicide wizards (level 2's with power scroll) and I thought about these 2 ideas.

1. Noble with the Hunter's Talon and a pageant of shrikes (that would be 2 sniping shots per round, one at BS6 the other always hits on 3+)

2. Noble with the Hunter's talon and arcane bodkins (I know most people want the Alter + Bow of Loren + arcane bodkins combo, but I like having a 4th level and a treeman ancient): this would also be good at taking out BSBs.

So basically does anyone have much experience with the hunter's talon?
Do you think my 1st idea would be an effective counter to the suicide wizard?
Do you think my 2nd would be a good way to knock of BSBs?

Thanks to any who respond, I am very curious what other asrai generals think.

IIRC I don’t think you can use magical arrows with the Hunter's Talon, would be a neat trick if you could but I have a vague memory of an FAQ somewhere.

onto number 1 build, I have thought of this idea before and if you know your opponent will field a magical banner instead of a defensive BSB build then it would be a great option for sniping and bagging some early victory points give the noble scout kindred to make sure you can get at the BSB maybe?

Interesting idea to add the scout abilty to get get at the BSB.

Oops, forgot that you could not use magic arrows with it. I just want to gripe that too many of the wood elf items have limitations/restrictions!!! All the magic bows should be glade guard long bows, why if I buy a magic bow (thereby limiting my usefulness in close combat) am I unable to use magic arrows? wtf?

Rant over . . . I still think the #1 build will be a source of fear for your opponent's wizards (now that miscast is a bigger deal), and maybe the occasional unit champion. Guess I need to try it out.
