Hi folks,
I recently started the hobby so I was a lurker for the most time.
But now I can introduce you to my first minis.
They took me forever... but I quite like the outcome.

I started with a squad of sniper scouts just because I love these minis.

I also did some little conversions. Namely the backpacks of the guys and the sniper gun hanging from the rocketlauncher-dudes shoulder.
A sergeant is WIP...

I managed to finish the sergeant for the squad. Also did some conversion on him. You can discuss the controversly of course. ^^

There is nothing special about them. I read lots of tutorials myself.
Do you mean the highlights on the red armor?

Armor was done as follows:
Black primer
Mechrite Red
Baal Red wash
Gryphonne Sepia wash
Drybrush of Blood Red (maybe a thin layer would work as well, havent tried it yet)
Highlights with Blazing Orange
Finish the thing with a second wash of Baal Red.

Very nice looking squad. I like the natural colors paired with the bright red. Its very striking.

Yeah. I will do that when I have the equipment.
I have made some other beginner mistakes... You can see the mold lines on some parts. *shame on me*
And the highlights are too thick on some places
I will try to avoid this concerning the next minis.

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with this one.
I took the sling from a normal boltgun. Cut it in half and then cut it to fit.
I think it was worth it because it adds much more character to the missle launcher-dude.

i like these,i had a go at some a while back but they didn't turn out as well as yours.nice work.

Good job on those scouts. Look great.

Love the chest eagle on the scout with the upward pointing rifle. Those are very good for someone fairly new to the hobby.

Sadly the other eagles are hidden behind the rifles.

Usually I'm not a great fan of really dark blood angels, BUT these look great! maybe just because there scouts and there meant to be stealthy n such, but i really like it.

Yeah. It's darker then the codex shows them, but I don't quite like the clean firefighter-look.
Since their homeplace is a deserted planet they should be gritty and have battleworn armor. ^^
But that's my opinion. But thanks for encouraging me to finish my second squad as well...
I hope I have some time to get them done soon.

Never thought about it like that. I always thought Baal was a reddish colour like mars, god knows why, iv never read any fluff actually stating the colour of the planet though.

When i first started i was WAY too impatient to wait for paint to dry, and my models came out pretty near red gore's colour, but slightly lighter as the occupancy of the old blood red was atrocious. Especially when watered down. I have one of my old bikers in my hand(only the rider as iv painted over the bike in embarresment at how bad it actually was). looks more like the paint attacked the model than was painted.

Nice work. I really like your version of Blood Angels red. The contrasting highlight against the dark crimson looks fantastic. I really like scouts, but have decided to reserve my scouts squads for my next Marine army. Good work!

they are great - personally don't like scouts but they are cool

Spome good solid looking scouts here. I prefer the darker red on blood angels, makes them more menacing.

My critique, would be to do something with the cloaks/backpacks, while it's nice they are the same tone etc, I think it'd look better with a slight variation or possibly just breaking the large brown area on the cloaks themselves.
