I am new to WHFB and am in the process of building my first army which should be 2500 pts and I am trying to figure out how I want to run my ladies. I have been watching OnceBitten's battle reports on youtube and I kind of like his style of using a level 4 prophetess with life and level 2 damsel with beast, but when I asked some folks about running it at my local store I got a lot of mixed responses about that being to expensive and that I should just go with either one level 4 or two level 2. So I am wondering what other people out in the Dakka world run.

Run the Fey Enchantress, +6 to cast all life spells, plus a free spell from heavens a turn. She can also hold her own in combat since she can be in the second rank of a Knight unit. She has a ton of awesome rules like spiteful glance that can score wounds when you need to get them most.
She gives the unit she is in the 5+ blessing, and Magic resistance 3. So they will have a 2+/5+ and a 2+ against magic. So feel free to run a deathstar unit there. Throw her in a unit of 12 grail knights with 3 Paladins and a Paladin BSB with the banner of the lady in the second rank next to the fey enchantress and i pity the fool who gets into combat with that unit.
Also when you use her you dont have to give up the first turn for the blessing, your army automatically starts with it.
Running her is well worth the 545 points she cost. With the ability to bring dead knights back to life, call in the comet from heavens for free, she is well worth the points and is a must have in any bretonnian army. I am currentsy 25-3 with my bretonnians using this build. The 3 i lost were the watchtower senario, WOC are really hard to move once they get in there.
So run the Fey encantress, the benifits far outweigh her cost. I hope that helps and if you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

I find her to be... pricey. Very pricey. I can take a dedicated combat lord AND a dedicated level 4 caster for a mere 25 points more (on warhorses, anyway) and be able to customize their loadout much better.
But I agree with the level 4 (life) with a big unit of Knights and the level 2 (beasts) on foot with a unit of men-at-arms. Actually... I'd probably save the points and make her a level 1 (beasts), because the signature spell is the only one she'd need. Heck, if I was planning on running two big blocks of men-at-arms, I'd seriously consider two level 1's (beasts), both choosing the signature spell.
At least, in a larger army anyway.

I run 2 lvl 2s, both with life and only ever take buff spells.
My magic phase is nothing special but it does leave room for 2 lords who can be quite brutal.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

I am starting to think that it's something that I am just going to have to try for myself and see how it goes over a number of games. Lvl 4 and lvl 2 might be a little pricey so maybe I will consider running a couple of levels 2's.

Try the Fey Enchantress. I was skepticall at first also, but the +6 to cast life spells can make a huge difference. That is pretty much a free extra casting dice per spell if you compare her to a lv. 2. It is also one free heavens spell. You also don't have to pray for the blessing because she lets you start with it. Thay way you dont have to consider giving up your ward save to not get hit by tons of cannons. She is the best choice in the bretonnian armybook for her points and will make them up every single game.

The only issue I have with running the Fey Enchantress is that at her point cost that will e 21% of my army right there in just one unit since I am planning on 2250 or 2500. Now if I go above that to 3000+ I can see running her being much more feasible, but at the moment its hard for me to choose since it leaves pretty much no options for my hero choices.

If you run her you can bring guys back to life eaisily. You should be able to control the magic phase, along with making one of your units all but unkillable. She is the perfect wizard. She gets her stomp attack when you charge, and her spiteful glance attack can make a difference.
I would suggest trying the lv 4&2. Then try the Fey Enchantress. That way you can see how much better she is than the 2 other wizards.

Yes. The Fey Enchantress is quite a powerful model. We know. Special characters, as a rule, are very good. Especially wizards.
In 8th, though, I think that the danger of running so many points all at once is worth noting. A single bomb-spell on your 12 Grail Knights and four characters could well lose you the whole game. I'm not saying it doesn't rock; I'm saying that it, like any other time you put everything you have into one unit, will win or lose very, very hard.
