Hey guys, I have a sisters of battle army that has the sisters with black armor with purple robes.

My question is, what color should their tanks be? I've thought about black, but its hard to make the highlights work in a way that looks good. Thoughts?

I'd try a black scheme, using a purple ink wash over certain pieces of the armor, like the front glacis plate. keep the solid purples used as sparingly as possible to keep the somber tone of the army itself.

i've tried it, but the highlights are really hard to keep clean and the drybrushing leaves it a little fuzzy looking

why not black but highlight with a series of thin purple coats mixed in with something like a black wash to stop it becoming to odvious? it might look like black/purple hair you know when the light shines just right you get to see the shades of purple? oh and I would probably include some white aswell?

I can see what you mean about the "fuzzy feeling" on the dry-brushing. Still, it comes out pretty well and the highlight has a natural worn feel to it.

Have you tried putting some battle damage on the tank? It could help offset the fuzzy feeling of the highlight. Or maybe some rust/wear.

I'm skeptical about the purple panels. I like the blending and the intent, but I think they just make those parts of the tank look too new compared to the weathered hull.

That said, if this is the test for a full compliment of Sisters' tanks, I think it's a very good scheme.

I wonder if a deep blue wash could convey the purplish feel better than purple would. Maybe worth a try.

Please post a picture of your infantry sisters next to the Rhino so we can get a complete picture of how they look together.

You might want some additional highlights and color the front window panes on the Rhino either purple or gold.
