Hi everyone.

New user, New army. I only just jumped into WHFB, and Bretonnia will be my first army. I recently purchased the men at arms boxset, so that I can try my hand at painting a few bretonnians. Some feedback on the color scheme, and of course of the miniatures themselves, would be greatly appreciated. Like you can notice, I haven't painted an emblem on the banner yet. That's because I don't know what to paint. Oh..well, to be honest, I want to paint a dragon, like the one in my avatar, on the banner. The only reason why I haven't painted it on yet, is because I'm not sure I can pull that off. To illustrate How it will look, I will edit the picture from my avatar into what I'd like to see on my banner. Any suggestions as to how I would need to pull that off would also be greatly appreciated.

So without further ado, here are the first 5 models. 3 of which are done, and 2 of them still WIP (Obviously )

I really like these. Nice colors. Way to lessen my dislike for Breatonians. Very nice!

Thanks guys. The knights will take a while to get though. I have to paint these guys first, and then I'll save up for the battleforce. That, or either that paladin with lance and shield, and the BSB.

I painted up another Man at Arms. Just one, Got some other things on my mind ATM. That doesn't mean I'll forget about this thread, though.

Thanks Rose Mountains. I'm happy with the way they turned out as well.

I have edited a picture into what I want my lord/paladin to have as his personal heraldry. I want to have all my heroes in the same heraldry, indicating they are from the same family tree, e.g.: Father, son, basterd son, etc... So their heraldry will vary from the generation they are from, just like in real medieval times. I want to name my characters, but that's going to be a concern for later. I have just painted two more Men at Arms, and I have started on the freehand on the banner. I haven't taken pictures yet, because it seems my camera has gone and left...

So, I have this for you to give you all an idea as what the basics will be for the heraldry. It's still a bit rough, I will try to edit it later on. You know, smoothen things out a bit.

C@C, advise and tips would be great.

time for another update, model wise. I painted up another 2 Men at arms, and I finally tried my hand at a freehand pantjob on the banner. I attempted the dragon from my avatar. Let me know what you think, it will be greatly appreciated. So, that's one side of the banner done, but what to do for the other side? Just paint another dragon? or do something else? Advise would be great. Thanks.

@Perkustin, It's still a but rough, isn't it? Do you know what I should paint on the othe side of the banner? To contrast the dragon?

Hy ! Good choice to pick bretonnia , Thats the best army. I am a huge bretonnian collector also. Not so bad for a first time painter , keep up the job and learn! You should try more of the blending technique .

A tip for the banner , use much more watered down colors , start with basic red ,very watery and paint the shape then add the color layers , so they become thicker .. When using watered down color and fine brush you can paint incredibly thin lines . Of course not too watery but that it flows easily when you paint...

P.S . you can watch at mine men at arms http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/154044-.html?m=2 here but I like that you use your own color scheme . Moro of my free hand in my gallery . By the way just finished bretonnian knight - my best model ever I will post it tomorrow.

Thanks Osiskars. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind when foing freehang again. BTW yours look amazing.

Done some little painting today. Just the shields and all the metal parts. Nothing worth showing you guys yet. But I have the updated heraldry for the family. Like I said before, I want my heroes to belong to the same family, and carry the same heraldry. With some small alterations in each generation. This is the fathers one, with a small scroll attached to let evereybody know of his heroics. (for those lucky enough peasants who can read, that is ) I have some great background in mind for the familly, but I need some more time to work things out.

Any advice in the heraldry would be welcome.
