First posted by Logan's World Expatriot in the thread about the Arundel Mills store closing (which is being delayed to match up with the below):
Logan's World Expatriot wrote:I heard a rumor that GW plans to open a larger than normal 7500 square foot Battle Bunker in the Bowie-Crofton area in April-May. If true, a big announcement would be coming in March.
Confirmed by BrassScorpion:
BrassScorpion wrote:I was keeping that news "under my hat" so to speak for a couple weeks now, but since you've posted it, yes, that rumor is true. GW has apparently already signed a lease for a new Battle Bunker, the real deal, here in Maryland. It will be open 7 days a week and the location is somewhere in the Bowie-Crofton area. That is why the closing of Arundel Mills was extended a couple months, to transition the customers there theoretically to the new Bunker. That also keeps the only store in that county that's open 7 days per week open till the new Bunker takes over.
BrassScorpion has been a really reliable source for news about Games Workshop's doings in the Maryland area, so I believe this. I also figured more folks would be interested in knowing about this than cared about a little mall store closing, and that it deserved it's own thread.
Anyone else have details (such as an exact address?). Any idea when GW will be anouncing this? Logan's World Expatriot mentions March above for an April-May opening... can't wait to have it confirmed officially!
Maryland's back in the black, baby!

We'll have to do a Dakka takeover of some kind... I see all these people with Ravens quotes in their sigs, Baltimore listed as a location, etc... but I don't know who they are in-person! I even met a Dakkanaut at the Owings Mills store that I had conversed with on here without knowing it...

Depending on how close you are to 83, it will probably be 1-2 hours. Huge range I know, but if it is on the south side (like the old one at Glenn Burnie) it will take a while to get there, but if it is on the north side and you can hop on 83 quickly, you can swing it in an hour or so.
Edit: Bowie-Crofton is on the south side. You are looking at 2 hours or so, assuming you can get on 83 quickly. :(

BOO ravens Bowie is redksins country.
Anyway, I'm excited. The mall store was getting crappy anyway. I love a couple of the people who work there. Hopefully they relocate with the store (which seems likely)

Hey Wehr, it sometimes takes me 2 hours to get back from Showcase Comics... so if I can get up there so often, you guys should be able to come down to the Bunker on occassion... am I right?

South my ass. Come down to the Saint Mary's County area, I'll show you southern MD.
Anyways, cool to see a new one opening. Might make the trek up with my friends at some point.

Hehe that's two hours from Harrisburg, not Allentown! It takes another hour or so to get to Hburg from here, though a bit less if white signs with letters and numbers mean little to you. It would actually be faster for me to stay at my parent's place and drive down... you can imagine how much my wife would love that!
Though really, if we end up relocating to Philly in the spring/early summer, I can brave the tolls on 95 to make it down
And Sarrazon, I was talking south side of Baltimore, not MD in general Going to southern MD is like going to southern DE: hard to justify.
