My friend and I just had another grudge match between his Blood Angels and my Space Wolves (the ultimate battle lol) Anyway, his sanguinary priest got in a razorback and turbo-boosted up to the front lines where one of his assault squads were in assault. The razorback got within 6 inches of the assault squad so he said they benefited from feel no pain. I disagreed stating that the razorback was a vehicle and it did not have any fire points. You make da call DakkaDakka.

Don't have the page number, but when the model is in a transport, you measure from the hull of the transport.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

I think he has you on this one. THings like the blood chalice or KFF are augmented in range if inside a vehicle. You can measure at any point from the hull to determine FNP. Thats why big meks in a battle wagon are a nightmare.

Ah yes, the kustom force field I guess you guys are right, but at least the force field makes sense. For some reason a medic running in and out of vehicle to help his fellows doesn't seem logical
Thanks for the replies

Think of it more like an aura than a medic.

An aura of cheese that is.

Yeah, he's not actually bandaging them; he's exhorting them on to glory! In this case, over the Rhino's loudspeakers from the safety of its troop compartment.

I don't have my BRB handy, but your friend might have done something wrong there. You can't embark in a transport and have it move flat out in the same turn. It's in the fast transport vehicles section of the rule book.

Not sure if this is the actual order of what happened, since it's not entirely clear in your first post, but thought it should be stated.

I'm also hoping he didn't actually turbo-boost a tank, as it can only move flat-out (not a skimmer/bike).

In regards to landraiders:

In the case of sanguinary priests, its the presence of Sanguinius's blood that drives the marines to a state that they can ignore injury, so it actually works in this situation. Even though he's safe inside the vehicle, the presence of the blood he's carrying can still be felt by the sons of Sanguinius nearby.

Well at least we have a fluff explanation lol

Yeah, its perfectly legal. I know this works for the Ork KFF and Pedro's aura of extra attack.

Actually a very good strategy, albeit kind of beardy.

How is it beardy? All ranges for models embarked in a transport are measured from the hull of a vehicle save for shooting, which is measured from the firing hatch (if it exists). Eldar Farseers can cast Doom from the back of a Wave Serpent which has no firing hatch because it's not a psychic shooting attack, and the power requires no LoS. Stormcaller can affect every model within 6" of my Land Raider if my Rune Priest is embarked inside of it, and Tempest's Wrath will be measured 24" out from the hull of that same Land Raider, increasing the area of effect significantly.

This isn't a new scenario.

When I say beardy, I mean it is a strategy that really can work a lot better than the usual way of doing things.

Having a Sanguinary Priest zooming around the board in a rhino giving FC/FnP to anyone who needs it is legal, but some may be annoyed by the tactic.

Not me personally, I actually would give props to someone who did something like that.

For some powers/abilities is does seem a little "unrealistic" / counter-intuitive, but then, this is a game about psychic gods and space vikings. And almost every army (aside from Daemons and Nids) benefits from it more or less equally.
