After discussion, I have changed my original ideas to this:

0-1 Ork Warlord - 125pts

WS: 6
BS: 2
S: 5
T: 5
W: 4
I: 4
A: 5
LD: 9
Sv: 6+
Special Rules - Independant character, Mob rule, Waaagh!, Furious Charge
Da Biggest Boss:
The Warlord is the biggest and strongest Ork in the Waaagh!. As such, he has lived for many decades, more than enough time for hidden genetic abilities to surface and will also have developed some traits to add to his considerable combat experience. To represent this, the Warlod can pick one Universal Special Rule from the following: Feel No Pain, Counter-Attack, Tank Hunters, Acute Senses, Fearless. This Special Rule must be chosen when the army list is made. Also, the Warlord will undoubtedly have the best Tek available. Because of this, any Assault weapon he is armed with gains +1 Strength, and one close-combat weapon he is equipped with can re-roll one failed 'To-Hit' roll per turn.

Wargear and Options: Same as Warboss

Thoughts and comments? The Orks need an HQ that can stand up to some of the things we've got running around nowadays.

What's with Ork experimental rulesets and having BS3?

I refuse for Ork's to have BS3. It's unOrky.

With regards to the rest, seems a little underpriced. Compare to a marine captain.

I often do. But a Marine Captain has 3+/4++. Doesn't come cheap, that.

All this warlord is is a warboss with +1 to about 5 stats.

As for BS3.. there's a reason that Flash Gitz are so redundant. And besides, do you REALLY think that an Ork WARLORD, master of millions, if not billions of Orks, destroyer of star systems, with usually over 80 years experience, is going to be a worse shot, than an Imperial Guardsman?

Ehm, totally underpriced. He can get str 10 with klaw, and cant be instant killed with any usual methods. And the marine captains 3+ armor save doesnt help jacksh*t against him (if we would have fight each other i mean).

The stats might be fine, but at that point cost ill eat my diapers.

IMHO hit and run is very un-Orky. Well for an Ork on foot at least.

depends on what clan the boss is from... a Goff would look down of those tactics for sure... but a Blood axe im sure would support it...

And it depends on how you look at hit and run from a fluff standpoint, this really only works on bikes but if he rode into a squad and rode right through them he'd have to circle around for another charge

Or jump in, smash some skulls, disengage and fall back into cover for another charge. Hm, reminds me of 300 somewhat, that notion does.

Yes. He is an Ork. Orks enjoy firing guns, not necessarily hitting anything.

Orks don't get above BS2. Them's da rulez.

And if you want all the fancy stuff, that's what Ghazkhull is for.

Well there's your problem... Tactical retreats back into cover for another charge is unOrky. Perhaps a built in Waaagh Banner would help. The other abilities are fine though.. just not hit and run (less he's on a bike).

I always liked the idea of having a warboss ride a Deffkopta Just for awesomeness.

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot to say. BS2 for orks. You can make his gun twin-linked or give him ammo grots.. but BS2. Dem da Ork Roolz

I've always hated BS2 across the line.. but if that's what the public agree on, that and the removal of H&R, then I will agree.

It also seems that generally, everyone is happy with my suggested special rules, however that's hard to judge as there's been very little discussion on that point other than of H&R.

@Miraclefish - this unit is designed as an alternative to Ghazghkull that can still offer a powerful unit that they can add their own story and character to. Additionally, if there was a friendly local tournament that was cool with you using these rules, or hell even in a competition between your friends, or that for whatever reason doesn't allow Special Characters, it's a good alternative. About 80-100 points less in many cases, I'd assume.

Will edit the original idea now.

The rest seemed fine to me.. I'd be fine with it being played. All the other rules seemed to make sense.. We orks are da tuffest and da strongest and da fastest. fluff wise?
Counter attack: Dem oomies are chargin at us. lets charge at dem!
FnP? Orks are da toughest.
Tank hunter? Orks like to blow stuff up.

So I see no reason not to let any of these be... although orks can already be fearless.. so that might not be a often picked option.

Lol from 90 to 125pts, i think that makes more sense. As for the rest of it i didnt comment on it 'cos it seems fine apart from Hit and Run. I notice you've changed the points but still not the Bs this reminds me of the Gauss Blaster Debacle. Give in to the consensus this time i think.
