I barely finish painting my 1500 list, and the next event I've been invited to ups the ante to 2000. Here's the list I put togehter, based on the models I have. Any insight or suggestion is greatly appreciated!
HQs
-Daemon Prince w/ Wing, Mark of Slaanesh, Lash
-Kharn the Betrayer
Troops:
-7 plague marines (2 meltas, plague champion with Power Fist), rhino
-10 CSM (champion w PF, 2 meltas, icon of Chaos Glory), rhino
-8 Khorne Berserkers (Skull champion with PF), riding in the Land raider dedicated to the termies (below)
-5 Noise Marines (4 sonic blasters, 1 Blastmaster), rhino
Elites:
3 Chaos terminators with 3 combi-weapons (melta), Icon of Chaos Glory. Land Raider with Daemon possession
Heavy Support:
2x Obliterator
2x Obliterator
Chaos Vindicator
Amount to exactly 2000 points.
The idea is to have Kharn in the LR with the zerkers, with the Prince walking behind it. Rhinos advance to either claim objectives or wipe out vulnerable units. Oblits lay anti-vehicle fire from cover, set apart enough to leave no are of the map truly safe. Vindicator rolls near enemy infantry looking dangerous to clean enemy objective-holders and also divert fire from the rest, while the termis Deepstrike behind enemy armor or wherever they can do the most damage.
I tried to make it as versatile as I could, but I guess it is heavy on the melta and lacking some anti-horde, though from what i see few people here play horde armies.
Thanks in advance for the input.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.
In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos. |

Looks pretty solid. Your Vindicator and Khorne Berzerkers are great anti-infantry.

The berserkers along with Kharn are a bit of a HQ-killing hit squad, as well as an objective clearer , but against a true horde army, I wonder if it'll be enough. I added the Noise Marines because their assault 2 bolters can offer a bit of a mobile gunline to snipe other infantry, and the blastmaster can annoy MeQs transports if they are left alone.
The vindi is a bit of an experiment. People always say "get two or get none" with them and defilers, but..I only have one. Might as well try.

Hmmm could be better...
Daemon Princes come in pairs for target saturation and lash isn't that good as mech is king and you cannot lash vehicles.
Rest is ok, though you really need the fist on the CSM and Plague Marines? Costing a lot...
Noise Marines aren't that good, too expensive as you have to pay to get the funky guns.
Tanks come in pairs, switch that Vindicator for more Obliterators.
I see what you're doing with the Land Raider but TBH in a large game that will be a prime target and stopped, plus Chaos Land Raiders aren't that good anyway.

I know about lash and the mech issue. But having I6 helps in fighting certain HQs, and after some transports get exploded it's helpful to lash the passenger out of cover or away from objectives. It's a handy ability, but not the main strategy. It's not a dual-lash list.
Power fists are there to help against Dreadnoughts. The CSM one might go, but I think the Plague marines need one to hold against termies, dreads and other heavies.
As for the noise marines, they are pricey a versatile roaming unit. They can assault small units with their high Ini, and can strike fear into the odd MeQ with the blastmaster. I know they're not ideal, but I like the idea of having 4 troops in a 2k list. What other troop can be shooty, assault and mildly artillery-y all at once?
As for the Land Raider, I've had good results with it. The fact that it attracts fire lets my rhinos and DP live longer, and posession cancels a good bit of the hits that manage to penetrate. In a large, game, serving berserkers n rhino sounds like asking to have someone drop a demolisher or plasma blast on them while they line out of their rhino to assault next turn.

Plague Marines won't hold out against Terminators who have either claws and will strike first or hammers with 3+ invulnerable..they will all die either way.
The Chaos Land Raider isn't good because it lacks POTMS which means it cannot split fire and move and shoot so it's like a gender confused wolf, it doesn't know if carrying troops or shooting which makes it a subpar unit.

also, the termi landraider cannot be used to transport other mobs. either transport the termis, keep it empty or buy one out of your heavy allocation, in which case you can put pretty much whatever you want in it.. x

Khorne Rhino Driver with Destroyer

The list is interesting- even though it has a diverse mix of units it seems reasonably balanced: here are a couple suggestions I have-
-Use your land raider to block LOS of the DP so he can lash stuff to the sides but not get shot by the enemy's entire army: also if you opponent is very shooty deploy a rhino or the vindicator in front of the LR so it gets hull down
-the noise marines will most likely under perform, they may be slightly more cost effective if you cut down the sonic blasters to 1 and throw a havoc launcher on the rhino: thus getting 2 solid shots out of the rhino and an additional blast attack for clumped lashed units
-PF champions in CSM and PM squads are over priced IMO, 2 attacks that may both miss in CC for 40 pts isn't worth it, I'd try cutting the CSM squad and run 3 slimmed PM squads with either 2 plasma guns or 2 melta guns in each
-I'd try to gear towards a theme which encompasses only 2 different troop varieties, there's a lot of randomness with a bunch of different troop types and the enemy can single out the greatest threat and focus on it while ignoring the others

I already use the LR for blocking and hiding my Prince. It usually works quite well; winged prince follows LR, flies forward to bust a transport, zerkers inside the Raider pour out to kill the occupants.
I'll give the launcher on the Rhino a try, then. Should I bother with a Doom Siren? I'm just a bit wary of the Deathwind because from what I've seen small blasts tend to scatter a -lot-. As for the other troops, I am deliberately trying to keep it a bit varied and fun, using the models I have. I love plague marines, but...the models themselves are quite annoying (all metal, no weapon options!) Maybe an alternate list with all infrantry divided between Death Guard/World eaters for better competitive options...
