Finally decided to repaint my angels preheresy colors.thought i would put them here for some feedback.

Well, the pictures are kinda poor so it's hard to see what the paint is like. It seems like you have them painted just flat black, which obscures a lot of detail. Black is very hard to paint well, because it relies a lot on highlights. Also you might want to look at the pre-heresy color scheme again, there is a lot more red than you have painted.

I would comment on your work, but I cant tell a thing by the pics you posted. Way too dark

You have to wonder how someone doesn't notice the poor quality of the pics, especially when posting that many.

Yeah don't know why they are so dark here. you could see them fine on my phone. ill try to get some better pics up soon. ph34r where did you find that the pre-heresy armour had more red. everything i have seen says they wore black armor with white iconography.

Alright, here are a few quick tips on getting better photos;

- Use a real camera: Although it might look good on you screen of the phone, phone cameras are pretty bad for any sort of detail. You have little to no options, they often don't have a flash, those that do often aren't powerful enough and generally (in my experience) don't have the quality of a camera. It doesn't have to be expensive, just have a lens, SD card, flash and settings to play with.

- Activate the Macro!: This is arguably the most important setting for taking pictures of miniatures. You'll of often find it on a main menu or, on some like mine, it'll be a button on the camera itself. The button/icon is what looks like a small flower.

- Bring on the Lightbox!: A lightbox can range from anything, going from a sheet of paper to a cardboard box lined with white paper with windows for the light. The idea is that you give something for the flash to bounce off. It improved the illumination of a model and also gives extra definition due to the lack of a background in, well, the background.

- Tinker around: Adjust the exposure times (how long the lens shutter is open for, if I got the technical word wrong) to improve your lighting, play around with modes like anti-shake and indoor flash, basically mess around until you find what works.

- Clean, crop and contrast: When done, upload the pics to a computer and use a picture editor to remove any background you don't want, crop the picture to the right side and adjust the colour contrast (The software I use has the auto-contrast option somewhere in tools, I use this). If you want you can go further and add a colored background, a shadow to the model or a reflection. A technique I've seen is people adding close ups of the model and blending them into the background to create little clouds of the extra detail.

- Upload via Dakka: IMO, dakka is by far the best uploading service. They can contrast the picture for you, give you handy links to add to threads and to put in BB-codes and have a good gallery mode. On top of this (as far as I know) there is no limit to your uploads so your pictures will never go walkies after uploading several new pics.

This is all I've lernt so far from various articles and experience. A lot of this advice is probably subject to YMMV, I'll admit I've seen some decent pics uploaded from an i - phone.

Oh and on the subject of the models, as far as I can see they lack highlights but it may just be the pictures, also I'd drill out the bolter barrels if you have a drill handy.

You're right, maybe there was not as much red as I remembered. I think I am going off of the Rogue Trader color scheme.
