20x Genestealer. 280p

1x Tervigon, w/ Cluster spines, Catalyst. 175p
1x Trygon Prime. 240p
1x Trygon. 200p
1x Trygon. 200p

What do you think about this list? Will it be ok? I made the unit choices to be able to handle mostcomers and especially mechanized lists.
The tevrigon will provide fnp to the genestealer squads and the hive guards will handle the tranports, and the trygons to bring some massive creatures to the list...

I would drop the 2 broods of 3 hive guard and add 2 15 brood oh hermagants with toxic sacs and adrile glans they will be the fringht line to alow your genesteales stay in cover when crossing the field.

7500+pts
2500+pts more is to come.

Hm i dont understand how you mean...

My plan was to infiltrate the genestealers to be able to deploy them more forward on the field, and if i use the gaunts infront of the stealers i get no use of the infiltrate?

i would take a lot less geane stealsers and more carnifexes those soak up firepower like nothing else

So much bad advice....

The list is probably pretty solid. Be careful of when you drop new gants. Personally I'd probably drop the Trygon Prime, and 2 Hive guard (1 each) from the 3 man units and take a Warrior Prime, Carnifex w/Dual Dev's, and if you have enough points (and I'd make them by dropping 1-2 genestealers from each squad if you don't) add 10 more gants to move the other Tervi to troops.

Something like:

Prime w/poison+boneswords-100
3x2 Hive Guard-300
2x10 Gants-100
2xTervigons w/Catalyst-350
2x20 Genestealers-560
2xTrygons-400
Carnifex w/Dual Dev's-190

2k on the nose.

This.

smart list that can Infiltrate and still have a ton of power coming in behind it.

Yup...Hulksmash knows what he's talking about when it comes to nids. Possibly try to get poison and adrenal on the tervigons also...maybe by losing a couple of stealers. Makes the gaunts that much more deadly.

For simple changes I would trim hive guard down to 2 in each brood - gives you a 100 points to play with.

Adrenals on all 3 trygons is 30 pts and toxin/adrenal on both tervigons is a further 40pts. 30 pts to play with? Maybe increase the gaunts to 16 to stop an easy KP on turn one and keep that shield alive ...

Exactly the first sentence! Example list is pretty decent as well, though Genestealers don't need to be in squads of 20.

@mercer

I'm generally an 18-20 Genestealer man. But it depends on what you're using them for. If you plan on outflanking them then generally 6-10 is in order. If you are using them for disruption and infiltration then 18-20 is best as they are one of the nastiest units in the game given FnP.

Aye, I outflank them and go for a tank or squad or something or go for a objective and they do pretty well. I think having a large unit like that is just costly, 280 points for 20 of them?

Ahhhh, but it's immediate pressure and it just ruins IG parking lots. If you go first it's 20 FnP T4 guys who will be in assault range on turn 2. If you go second it's still 20 guys who are 18" away and generally in cover. Takes a lot of firepower to dig them out

Your style is equally valid though. It's just not my style.

Id recommend taking less stealers but with toxin sacs instead, rerolls on wounds makes for more rending wounds without save. Toxin is nearly mandatory for me.

I ran a stealer shock army last night at the 1200 level (No Trygons). I had one large stealer unit +broodlord behind a unit of hormies. They received FNP every turn and also got cover from the hormies (also from some Venomthropes).

Then I had three smaller stealer units, one which infiltrated and one which outflanked. Finally one unit of Ymgarls.

Cover is so important for your genestealers, they are vulnerable to shooting. Without cover and FNP my main stealer unit would have been owned.

I understand your angle here, the thing I've found my Stealers can tackle multiple vehicles, though not as affectively as 20 or as many.

tervigon uses catalyst psychic power, will affect Genestealers as long they're within 12" of the Tervigon
