My friends and I are running a campaign soon, it'll be 6 -8 players... We got a few things we want to do but we're not sure how we're going to do it. So I figured you wonderful DakkaDakka People will be able to help
We'll be running a strategic Campaign using a map/grid. There will either be a round limit and at the end, whoever controls the most territories at the end of X rounds wins, or it'll just go to the bloody end, knock out the capital square or whatnot.
That's not what we need help with. Here's the things we want to try.
1) A resource point system. Controlling a territory awards you a Resource point which you can use to do a multitude of things.. like put a minefield on 1 territory, or reinforce another, make an army stronger or whatever. We're not sure how the system will work yet but we know it'll be a 1-shot thing / round. Points won't hold till the next round so spend them or lose them, and they will only be limited to 1/territory.
2) Certain territories will offer a buff...Like holding the Artillery station allows your
HQ to use Orbital Bombardment once/game.
3) A progressing
HQ system. We're not sure how to do this just yet but we have a few ideas.
a) Pick an Unique
IC, and pick a base. Each round your character survives he progressively becomes the UC more and more. The problem is Necron's (specifically them, I don't know which other armies) are lacking in the UC department. I know Necrons have the two C'tan, but turning a lord into a C'tan seems...sketchy.
sub-rule a) Having special equipment would be able to be looted. If your champion "dies" he's assumed to have been pulled off the battlefield by a retinue or some such. The opponent then rolls a
d6, on a 5/6 they can choose to pull off a piece of equipment from the enemy
HQ. This is just an idea, might be used might not.
b) Provide hidden objectives each game done by a 3rd party. Written down you draw one before the game starts and not look at it. When the game is over you read the objective. Say.. Hold terrain piece 5, or end in the opponents deployment zone, or do whatever. This provides a piece of equipment or something that provides a special rule. Orb that provides
FNP, or Gem that offers Preffered enemy and Rage, etc. This seems a bit
OP, but we're looking at extremely powerful
HQ units throughout the game. The person can choose to discard it.
c) Create a point system to determine how to create your own UC-
ICs. I don't like this idea because I have no clue how one would determine the points for each ability / piece of equipment. I also think it'd be a case by case basis. The main issue (I'm using Codex Marines as a point of reference) Most UC's are under-priced. 125 for a Chaplain with T6, hellfire rounds,
FNP, and a combi-flamer? If we go from Base chaplain, we'd subtract the costs of equipment that he can take... that'd leave 10pts for Hellfire rounds,
FNP and T6. That's bull

So it'd have to be a way of determining how many points
FNP is worth.
Thoughts on how to do this? I'm sure many people will complain about how
OP this will be

but we'll see.
