Ultramarine Scout with Sniper Rifle

Ok, so I got bored of painting my blue army and thought i'd try something else, and i debated and debated it slmost turned into a mass one!
All i ended up with was wanting to do some crimson fists (i know they are just darker blue)
Well i had pedro and lysander lying around anyways so thought that i should put these models to use!
i have a few undercoated models so far but the one i got sidetracked with was an ebay purchase, so i'd like to introduce to you Brother Cadminius my first crimson fist Dreadnought. He is a Venerable Ironclad, points wise i just add 60 pts to standard ironclad as thats the difference for the normal ones.
Please c+c welcome!!

Is he even primed? If he's not, I'd suggest stripping and repainting. If you don't, it won't take long for the paint to just flake off.

Well, it shows. Your paint won't stick nearly as well and will end up uneven, require thicker coats, and will eventially flake off. You can avoid all these issues and more by just priming. It's a very important part of the painting process, and skipping it will just cause you plenty of headaches down the road, and will end up with sub-par results.
I don't mean to sound mean, but if you don't even have the patience to prime your models, this may not be the hobby for you.

it doesn't sound too mean, and i fully get where your coming form, but normally just paint things. this model i have done a bit too quick, i normally would get my spray gun out and do a base layer to start from, normally in the same colour range as what i'm painting, like my ultra's i spray mordian blue before starting to paint them with ultramarine blue and the washes.
Should i be using a certain paint as a primer then? just as i've never done it i could use the tips.

I prefer duplicolour sandable primer (with no filler!), although there are plenty of brands out there. Army Painter is quite popular, and if you like wasting money, you could always buy GW primer. Krylon primer is also cheap and good.
Lately though, since the weather has been horrible where I live (seriously, when it's not snowing, it's so windy that I can barely walk, let alone prime), I've been using brush-on primer. Don't be fooled though, it'll be clearly marked as primer. It's okay if you're doing single infantry models and don't want to go out to spray paint, but it's not as good as spray-on primer, I find. However, it's great to have on hand for touching up areas that the spray can didn't get.

Well many thanks for the advice, i agree about wasting money at GW, i will look into the primers for my next models but with enough already started to keep me going for now i'll continue. if it flakes then i'll have a reason to repaint!
I'm hoping i can do enough justice to the model to hide it's un-primed flaws!
