That is not bad at all. Did you use citadel paints on it?

On TV corrupting the minds of children.

Looks nice but the highlight seems a little extreme maybe use the highlight colour, water it down and apply a couple of times to blend it in works a charm, but is a little time consuming.

Imperial Guard 2000 points and counting 90% painted
Eldar 1000 points

Not bad. I'd consider highlighting before dipping; try it and post up a pic so we can see what the difference is like.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Doesn't look too bad. It's well shaded by the overpriced Army Painter crap, and the highlighting is effective - but the basecoats aren't real neat.

Clean up your mould lines if you're going to heavily use washes/dips! I guess you're going for the cheap scheme, so I can't blame you for using Vallejo colour under the dip - for basecoating paint quality makes little overall difference.

THanks guys but i actually got this from a guy that started and didnt do any cleanup work and it was all ready primed so i thought heck ill just try it out plus the problem with highlighting before dipping is that it almost removes the highlights and i know i picked to bright of a shade to highlight with but i wanted a very comic book feel mini thanks for the suggestions. But what do you mean the base coats arent real neat Arctik_Firangi. Thanks guys.

I would say it’s at the higher end of table top quality.

Which is perfectly reasonable for a basic troop model.

Looks great except for the top down. It looks like you still have mold lines on the helmet. Other than that, good work!

Looks great, but I do agree with the highlighting being a bit too extreme... more subtle would be better.

The first pic looks like he was eating a powdered donut.

What's the stuff like to work with? I watched the instructional video on the website(army painter) but none the wiser as to its consistency. Is it watery or is it a bit thicker?

I got some army painter dip and am dipping my lizardmen, and I just stripped my whole space wolf army and am repainting most of it. I wanted to try the dip on the marines but wasn't sure if it would come out good.

Could you post a few more pics? Like a before and after? I would greatly appreciate it.

The consistiancy is a bit like motor oil. But it works really nice

Why do you want to repaint it? Ill try and do it later but ill try to do a before and after.

I just recently rescued all my minis from my parents basement. I haven't war gamed in like 15 years. I stripped all the old paint jobs from when I was like 13 to 15 years old to repaint them.

Try painting on the highlights prior to the dip. That should give you a really nice even finish.
