Hi, all,

I'm looking into the possibility of doing a Descent of Angels Blood Angels List for my second army. However, I don't particularly want to go down the normal route of modeling and painting them as Blood Angels; I'd rather do something a little more exciting.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Night Lords. They fit the theme very well indeed, and I enjoy all the fluff about stealth and fear tactics. Thing is, I'm a little concerned about painting the lightning patterns on the armour; I don't think they'd be quite the same without them, so this throws a spanner in the works. If I were able to pluck up the courage to try the lightning, I'd go about it like this.

I was also considering doing a home-brew renegade legion, based on the Night Lords. I don't have anything in the way of fluff yet, but I imagine they'd be red. I do like a bit of red.

Anyone got any other suggestions? How about Flesh Tearers, modeled as full-on vampires with wings?

I've always considered the BA codex perfect for NL too. If you dont like the Lightning Arcs and dont wanna shell out the money for the NL heads (which are retardedly expensive for 10 heads and a few accessories) you can always use Vampire Counts. I remember someone doing a Thousand Sons conversion with it, but it ended up looking like a Nightlord.

Another chapter (which I was discussing with someone else) was White Scars. Scott-66 raised good poitns that they use fast vehicles and jump packs, but personally I would rather have them being led by Khan.

Finally you could always do a Pre-heresy Emperor's Children army. They favoured Assault troops, perfect for a DoA army.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Vampire Counts... interesting suggestion!

What do you think of full-on vampire Flesh Tearers? With bat wings?
