height from head to toe
length of torso
length of arms
length of legs...

I think they're about 2x the size of a normal infantry-sized figure.

i plan on trying some tricks with sculpy and stuff to make an attempt at a bit bigger scale...and getting an ugly face might be a bit of a cheating start^^

do you know if the fantasy line ogres are the same sizes?
i´ve got some bits of`em and would try to use them...

a bit of detail never hurts^^

They make good Ogryns I know people using them with bitz added on for IG

oki, now do you have an idea what weapons i could give them? i have some terminator stormbolters i could cut up and also some spares in my heavyweapons bitzbox...some autocanons and two heavy bolters... or even mortars... would that work? and how could they hold these weapons?

hmmm guess your right...probably will do only up to five of them anyway, more like only four...as after the fourth i would be on my own with arms...i have to do some research for the ogryns now i guess...dakka gallery here i come^^

my friend used fantasy ogryns and gave them autocannons and that seemed to work quite well

hmmm i feared the long barrel of the autocanon might be a bit much...but hey they are rather brutish guys^^

You can always use pins to help shorten the barrels^^

Paperclips make for cheap pins as they come a LOT to a pack for cheap, and are easy to glue into the drill hole and then clip to the right length.

well this is surely an option i will consider...

had a quick stroll through the gallery and boy are there good minis on... not that much motivating then... would have been a whole lot better if i just saw bad models there...^^

Don't worry about any competition, your models are yours once you have added your own touches to them! No one else makes minis quite the way of others so don't panic. Think on that while I get some sleep.

Ripper guns are supposed to be heavy assault shotguns. Anything thats big, simple looking and with a magazine of large calibre rounds tends to do the trick. A shortened autocannon or slightly modded Heavy bolter would do. I've also seen some good looking Ogruns with modeified Ork Heavy Shootas.

i have thought about using ork shootas too...i would also not totaly rule out to do some ripperguns from scratch... using Q.tips would help probably in tht matter or are the arrels to thin?

So, I scratch-built my ogryn, and the original advice of taking every measurement and increasing it by 2x is surprisingly close on. The only problem with doing this literally is that the models will look more like giants than like ogryn. As such, at least for the legs, you've got to cut the increase down to less than 200%.

As for ripper guns, it's nothing that some cheap aluminum tubing from a hardware store and some spare bitz can't handle.

even today i had a quick lookaround to your ogryn thread...

tday i dabbled a bit in scratchbuilding... nothing really to show here, just building a quick body up with two attached ogre arms and an ogre head...
if i get it to standing built i will show my progress...

Spare auto-cannons, with the barrels cut down, and the flash suppressor pinned back on would look a little more "shotgunny" and durable, plus they have the ammo drums!

Heavy Bolters are also often used. And for some more cheeky Ogryns, I've seen them loot a Hunter Killer missile.

i also have some Tau "gatling guns" and and wouldnt rule out the idea to scratchbuilt a gatling for these then...would make posing quite easier then too...like a predator 1 gatling...

The best Ogryn weapons are ones that can be used as a club if it jams, or runs out of bullets, as the Ogryns have a tendency to go wild with the trigger finger!
