Has anyone had any experience with tau crisis suit/broadside alternatives? The whole army is all smooth lines and curves, and I hate the way the Crisis Suits stick out. I'd look into starting tau, if I could find something that could stand in, or work with some conversion work.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The Forge World suits are much nicer, though rather expensive.

Alternatively, cruise www.hlj.com for robot suit models. The Tau suits are fairly small, so you want to look for 1/72 scale models and check their dimensions.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I prefer to convert Stealth Suits, putting them on rocks to compensate for LoS. They look good as XV22 suits.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I feel your pain, that's why I decided to use the FW XV-89 for all of my crisis suits http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Tau/TAU-BATTLESUITS-AND-DRONES/XV89-CRISIS-BATTLESUIT.html

I like what this guy does with his Crisis Suits as far as bulking them up and giving them more of a Reactive Armor Military look.

He adds bulk to the head and some armor plating from bits. You could go crazy with the armor if you wanted. I found a whole sheet of plasticard with the square armor panels so I'm going to try this myself.

Here's his final results

I also only take FW Crisis Suits and Broadsides.
As the commander, I take this one from Urban Mammoth:
