So I have a few locals who are getting into the game, and they all quite like the fluff and such, and so I decided to model a custom special character for each of them (and myself while I'm at it).
My 5th Edition experience, though, is so far somewhat limited, so I need some aid in figuring out how many points each should be and if any of them are hideously overpowered or anything. Looking for roughly the power level of any other Special Character (the sane ones, not Mephiston and The Swarmlord)

[designation pending by Imperial Xeno Offices]
(basic idea, will flesh out more later During fighting on a world between the Imperium and Tyranid attackers, the battle on the ground was more or less a tie, with both sides down to the last scattered fighters. A wing of Space Marines warps into orbit, takes out the hive fleet ships to a one, but suffers enough damage to all be either destroyed or have to tactically retreat, warping out with a last volley of their standard "we're done with this planet" missiles, and promptly forgetting about the blasted husk of a world.
Several Tyranids survived, scattered bugs over the planet, the last scraps of the attackers. As well as a Hive Tyrant thought dead. Cut off as they now were from the greater portion of the Hive Mind, the Tyrant adapted (as Tyranids are wont to do) as sort of a hive node, searching over the planet and collecting the scattered remains of his forces, becoming more specialized as a commander of the other breeds.

HQ
Hive Tyrant with basic Tyrant stats (and can have Tyrant Guards like other Tyrants)

Scything Talons and Venom Cannon (Not quite sure of his weapon loadout; I only chose those two because those are the arms currently on the model I'm going to be converting, but would certainly change to something more appropriate)

Thorax Swarm with all three varieties of bugs (to represent him drawing to himself every last scrap of the failed invasion), though only one can be fired each turn. Can fire in combat, though uses the Large Blast template centered over himself (not hurting himself with it) in such a case, rather than the 'flamer' template.

Regeneration (unsure on this one, thought it would fit given his need to be a survivor)

Eternal Warrior (giving this to all of these custom characters; it sucks when your pet character dies to something instantly)

18" Synapse range (Thinking of perhaps reduing his Attacks characteristic or something, to represent him being more of a commander than a combat bug, but not sure.)

Psychic Scream
Command - Psychic power, used at the end of the opponent's shooting phase, and up to twice per turn (too much?): target Tyranid infantry (not monstrous creatures) brood within 18" may move d6" towards a unit that shot it this turn.

------------------

Imperial officers have been unable to determine this particular ork's name, as during battle he seems to only alternate between maniacal laughter and screams of pain. From what they can tell, a Big Mek made a Deff Dread with a few too many Skorchas on it, decided to pilot it himself, and was accidentally 'welded' inside when one (or, more likely, all) of them had leaks or were otherwise unstable in some way(s). The result being a pyromaniacal Mek who is constantly on fire and not at all pleased about it.

Heavy Support (HQ instead? Elite?)
Ork Deff Dread

4 DCCWs, each with a built-in Skorcha (resulting in two Twin-Linked Skorchas; Weapon Destroyed results 'un-link' them for the first two, then start destroying the weapons) that is +1 Strength (AP3 instead? Wanted one or the other) over the normal profile for Skorchas.

Personal Kustom Force-Field - Doesn't extend beyond Dread, but gives a 4+ cover save against shooting, 5+ during CC.

Mek's Tools

"Oh, God, It Burns!" - Each round at the end of combat (end of shooting phase instead?), every model (enemy and friendly!) in base contact (within d6" instead? like this one better, but unsure of whether it's too strong) with Whatshisface takes a strength 4, AP5 hit, with no cover saves.

Already On Fire - Reduce by 1 the strength of any Flamer or Melta weapon used against Whatshisface, and Melta weapons within 'melta' range only add d3 extra penetration instead of d6.
Smokey Bear's Nemesis - Whatshisface treats forests as Dangerous Terrain (do walkers already do this, or do they treat Difficult the same as normal infantry? I don't have my book in front of me).

------------------

Wolf Lord Somethingorother (copied and adjusted from previous thread)
Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf (with appropriate stat adjustments), with -1 BS
Runic Armour - Permafrost, Frag and Krak Grenades, Thunderwolf mount - [wolfname], Frost Axe, Plasma Pistol

Permafrost is Runic Armour, and in addition any rolls of '2' to wound Somethingorother are counted as '1's, unless by a weapon of strength 8 or more.

[wolfname] is a particularly savage and bloodthirsty wolf. In close combat, after Somethingorother has struck, [wolfname] immediately gets a number of WS4 S4 Rending attacks equal to the number of unsaved wounds inflicted by the lord, directed at the same unit. These attacks do not, in turn, confer any additional attacks, and wounds from [wolfname].

Somethingorother may purchase up to 2 Fenrisian at 10 points each. Their attacks gain Rending while with him.

ATSKNF, Acute Senses, Counter-attack, Independent Character, Eternal Warrior, Stubborn, No Blushing Lass, Ferocious Tenacity, Bloodthirst, Trophy Taker

Ferocious Tenacity - Wounding this berserker is not always the best of ideas. While he has suffered 1 or more wounds, he has +1 Strength and +1 Attack, and while he has suffered 2 wounds, he has +1 Toughness.

Trophy Taker - What started as an idle, half-jesting dare/contest by a packmate has progressed far beyond that. When attacking a Monstrous Creature, Somethingorother may elect to strike at Initiative 1; if he does so, each of his unsaved wounds on that Monstrous Creature deals two wounds instead of one.

Bloodthirst - Somethingorother is always eager for a fight, an overgrown Bloodclaw at heart. He has Rage, and any unit he joins gains Rage as well as he spurs them on.

No Blushing Lass - Hiding in the back lines? Using your kin as shields? Bah! Cowards! Somethingorother, and any unit he joins, may not claim a cover save for your own units being between the firer and him, as he will often yell for them to get out of the way as he charges through.

------------------

The Void
Blahblahblah backstory that I'm still working on, wraith-ish Lord.

Necron Lord with +1 WS and A, and +2 I, over the normal.

War Scythe - Reality Tearer

Phase Shift - (as Wraith)

Wraithflight - (as Wraith)

Phase Attunement - The close combat attacks of any unit of Wraiths that The Void joins gain Rending while he is part of the unit.

Eternal Warrior

Reality Tearer - As a Warscythe, that also inflicts instant death on a to-wound of '6'. Additionally, it can be used in the shooting phase, as it warps reality, phasing out portions of enemies, as follows: nominate a point that The Void moved over during his movement phase, and place a template, scattering d6" if an arrow is rolled on the scatter die. Blast template - Strength 7 AP 2 ; Large Blast Template - Strength 5 AP 4 (I feel like this ability needs to be adjusted, while still keeping the basic idea, but not quite sure how)

No opinions? Rough idea of points cost? Glaring "holy crap that's broken" bits that I haven't noticed?

One last try to see if anyone has any insight on these.
