Wanted to share the latest additions to my Blood Angels army. The first is the Baal Predator Atrialis, representing the command and direction of the heart's Atria. The next is Vindicator Ventricus, illustrating the power and precision of the heart's Ventricles. It made sense to name them after the heart since they are the Blood Angels . I managed the usual amount of detail that I like to do to models. The lettering was done freehand with an 18/0 brush and I loved the way it turned out. The headlights were blending to give them a glowing effect. Brother Catharn (illustrated by his shoulder pad) is one of the pilots of Ventricus. Keep an eye open for my next project; the Land Raider Crusader Vena Cava. Comments and critism is welcomed!

Everything is gorgeous, but there's not a lot of detail on the tanks themselves. Battle damage, wear and tear, and shading are all conspicuously absent. One part that springs to mind is the heavy bolter sponsons. The bolter is just black, no silver or gunmetal anywhere. You've obviously proved you can do detail, so some weathering on the guns would be appropriate. Also, you might want to pick out some paneling in a lighter or deeper shade of red, like the extra armor on the Vindicator, or the panels on the Predator.

So, list of stuff that could be improved.

1) Weathering, especially silver/gunmetal on the assault cannons, bolters and the storm bolter.

2) Paneling. A lighter or deeper shade of red would make the raised or lowered areas stand out a bit more, and most BA vehicles I've seen are more than one shade of red.

3) The Vindicator gun looks a little unfinished, almost like unpainted plastic! D: Finishing that and giving it some scorch marks would round out the model nicely!

4) Some battle damage might be appropriate, but is completely optional. If these really are the "heart" of the chapter, they would be lovingly maintained, and cleaned up before each battle. So maybe not.

5) EDIT: Highlighting the red edges with a silver or gunmetal would look really neat. Or maybe black? It's your choice, though.

Otherwise, beautiful job, the lettering is excellent and the shading on the Blood Angels iconography is spot-on.

I appreciate your comments and input Joshh. Your right about the lack any type of detail on the tanks. That is intentional. Everything you mentioned I ultimately plan to get around to. My goal right now though is quantity over quality. Personally, I find it impossible to play with anything that hasnt been painted to at least the standard you see above; however, I just dont have the amount of time needed to dedicate myself to the detail yet.

The tanks themselves do have a pretty good amount of detail and color tone differential like you mentioned. I think my camera does an excellent job of hiding much of it with its flash. When I paint though it is subtle and gradual and builds up....so most of it require you to stare at the tank closely to see it I did add shading in all the cracks and crevases, a very time consuming and exhausting task, but again, subtlety is the key.

Finally, if you look at any of my Blood Angels pics (and I have a bunch of them on this site) you will notice there are no metallics on my characters or vehicles. The tracks on these tanks are a combination of greys and washes. My goal is to build up my NMM skills and return to these projects and finish them off with a gorgeous NMM finish. But that is in the very distant future.

Thanks again for the comments!

Oh, OK, I didn't know this was an ongoing project! Yeah, camera flash sucks for subtle paint jobs. Anyways, good luck on the practice for the metallics eventually. I look forward to seeing the finished product!
