Sorry Edwyn (if you have taste, you'll get the blatant rip off)

So, I did a huge paint order this weekend. Nigh on £100 on brushes, flow aids, mediums, Led/Mag headsets, empty jars, varnish and of course an entire rainbow of paints. The aim of which is to see if I can walk the walk that I talk. Before I left the hobby at age 15, I could paint - really well. Since my return I've made a half arsed attempt and gotten okay results. I was pretty sure I could get better results than what I've managed so far. The stuff I've put up looks okay, but it's messy. Mainly because I've no real space to work and lighting is an issue. That's fixed now, I've got lighting to pick up tomorrow, an led/mag headset for closeups and an array of brushes for getting into the tiny areas.

I also bemoaned the finish I got on my minis. I'd have visible brush strokes, uneven finishes and patches. I blamed that on aged paint, and no mediums or flow aids to help out. Problem is, that's fixed come tuesday and the mediums, flow aids and paint arrives.

So - I have nothing to hide behind now. I've got the tools, and I've got the knowledge. Actions speak louder than words, and a only a poor workman can blame his tools.

Let's get rolling!

Getting the ball rolling - Cappy - the first mini I "finished" ( not even close, he didn't get based, and he never got his final highlights!) Has gone in the drink. Although, in this case, it's probably more apt to call it the "don't you dare drink!". He's just chilling, getting a good old strip down, ready for a cleanup and a fresh paint job when the paints arrive.

Well, first off - I'm really glad you like what you see!

I think my main problem is that I'm a terrible critic. My wife thinks I'm an awesome cook, she gets people round at every opportunity to show it off, but even with people telling telling you you've done a good job, it's still a little hard to believe.

You're probably right, it probably is a good job, but it doesn't matter what forum you post on, or who you speak to, there's very few people who are going to rip you to shreds over anything that gets posted.

That isn't a bad thing, I worry about giving criticism in communities like these, as it can often paint youina negative light, but it does cause problems for me personally. I have a very difficult time believing that everyone thinks it's good, especially when I can see mistakes on the mini, like the shoulder pad rim - at the interface between black and yellow, the interior rim has yellow overspill and there's a visible stroke mark above the silver plate.

I am my worst critic, but I also need to hear it from others or there's no way I'm going to be the best I can be.
