Hey folks, a while ago I saw someone's conversion for their SM captain or some such. He looked to be wearing stuff from the 'Ard Boyz Armour Pack on the GW site (shoulder pads, iron gob, etc). Damned if I didn't saved the picture and now I cant find it again, but anyways. I was quite taken aback by it and am wanting to do the same for my whole SOB army when they come out.
My only concern is the fluff (and my conversion skill). With the whole "all orks are psykers thus red things go faster" thing, my SOB are wearing orky gear that would be heretical and totally against their purpose?. I'm looking for some story that may make sense. So far I've thought about running low on supplies and trapped on a planet with orks thus they have to use what they can to patch their armour. That or some bat crazy inquisitor is testing out if he can get the same "red go fast" principle to work with the Imperium.
Most importantly I saw someone else that was scared some folks wouldn't play with him if he used the new GK terminator torso for his CSM termies because CSM cant wear GK armour. And I'm a little worried about the same thing, although I suppose its not to the same extent.

It'll be hard to justify fluff-wise, but if it looks cool, go with it. Your idea of them being trapped and running low on supplies is probably your best backstory for the job, although the Ecclesiary aren't generally the ones sent in for attrition warfare.

The folks you and him are worried about are what we like to call 'pricks.'

Or "people who actually read the fluff and care about it not being raped"
Though I wouldn't not play him if he used them
And I agree that the stranded on an ork infested world idea would probably be best.

There's nothing wrong with caring about the fluff. Nothing wrong with disagreeing with the fluff of his army. But if you're going to chastise him or refuse to play him for it, then yes, you are a prick.

Yes, I suppose that is slightly more prick-y (the not playing him part still - if I disagree with his modelling choices based on fluff I will let him know )
@ ctlc - don't worry about it, Dakka is pretty forgiving (unless you are making female space marines ).

I take it they're not marine players then.
I say do it if you want it's a challenge, completely against the fluff, but it's your army so there's nothing really to stop you.
