Are you going to use roman helmet heads?

Is that grey or metal flak armor. If it's grey, we have the exact same color scheme for our Guard.

The paint scheme looks good, IMHO. Maybe get some historical roman heads? give officers a 'Power-Gladius'. as a sword. You could do some awesome work converting them to Roman standards. Just surf the net for pictures, and let the inspiration flood you.

Love the concept. Try a brighter silver for the armor, romans were sticklers for polished armor. Brown boots also.

For flavor, each squad should have a standard bearer, even if you dont buy the wargear. I found these, you could use them or make something similar http://www.scotiagrendel.com/Xyston/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_3_12_44&products_id=143&zenid=97c3dff39f15d9112164c1f48469a0c9

Gladius for the CCW, the catachan long machetes would be an easy conversion.

Helmets could be standard guard, but the sergeants and commanders should have a brush plume like this http://www.medievalarmor.com/medieval-armor-images/imperial-roman-helmet-8112.jpg Sergeants go forwards, commanders go sideways.

thanks for the opinions they really helped i made some pole weapons from plasticard and attached the chainsword to the top of it but i really dont know what arms im guna use for the weapons should i just use the lasguns or should i convert some sort of weapon to the lasgun ( seeing as the guardsmen are also equiped with a ccw and a Lasgun) i was thinking of a halberd type of thing but i dont think thats historicly right to do so

A traditional legionnaire is equipped with a pilum (throwing spear), sword and large shield. Red is the most often seen tunic color, but white or blue could work too.

Adding a square combat shield to the figures with a red and silver paint scheme might be the easiest way to "go Roman" but there would be a lot of conversion work in adding the shield.

when I think romans in combat I think Shields. . . as far as playstyle + modeling is concerned adding a shield to units that have a 4+ armor save would be appropriate and keep the conversion work down.

Maybe treat your basic guard as archers? change the look by extending the barrell a bit. Long-las instead of long bow

The helmets are another huge thing. I would love to see roman style helmets on all the guardsmen. and the big frill on the officers helmets.

Giving them a modern twist would be appropriate too (just a suggestion) turn the shields into riot shields.

Check out the Junkers from that old OOP game void.

They have a Roman asthetic, you can still pick them up from Ebay and Scotia Grendel.

The plastic basic troops all had rectangular combat sheilds with them.

(Ithink these may be metal though)

Void isn't OOP. It has renewed it's miniatures, and nog it goes under a new name. The game is called Urban War. The ones producing them are 'Urban Mammoth'. You can still get the models, hell even I can get them in Belgium.

You could try these:

They are as high as a cadian guardsmans legs and are a pretty nice fit without looking too bulky.

Or you can make your own using plasticard! I think that's an easy shape to do.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.

Maybe grenade or chainsword arms, with a bit of trimming?

Your biggest problem will be the designs on he shields, I am not sure of the scale, but what about converting these romans? You could add cadian heads and arms.

Can you name them the Bad Romans squad? When you've trapped a fleeing enemy, you already have a theme song.
