Explanation = This is my crazy conversions blog and it will randomly switch between the three main armies that I am presently focusing on.
Work and other commitments always seem to get in the way of focusing on these little guys which means that I am not always the fastest army builder in the world
(The way I look at it, "you only build and paint these little guys once so when I do I try and do the best job that I can", which in my case takes me ages).

Warriors of Chaos. (Chaos Undivided). I have started mucking about with some Chaos Marauders, never liked the way that they look like a bunch of "S&M Vikings". hehehe. (bare chests with leather straps & viking helmets looks kinda wrong to me, it does not do these bad mofo's from the north justice).
My vision of Chaos Marauders is something a lot darker and in my opinion more realistic. To start with they have hoods on which not only protect them from the elements but also make them look pretty. (I really dig the whole idea of not being able to see there faces / eyes as they are shrouded by the hood, nice and evil). They have all been granted the following options - #Light Armour, #Shields, so therefore they have chest armour, shoulder armour and are carrying shields. To finish the look off they all have flowing capes / cloaks on their backs.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Marauder Standard Bearer = Empire Flagellant Head, Empire Knightly Order Chest Armour and Cape, Marauder Legs, Arms & Shield, Modified Banner and Shoulder Armour.

Marauder Chieftain = Modified Chaos Warriors Head, Empire Knightly Order Chest Armour and Cape, Marauder Legs, Arms & Shield, Shoulder Armour.

Marauder Musician = Wood Elves Golden Glade Head, Empire Knightly Order Chest Armour and Cape, Marauder Legs, Beastmen Arms / Instrument & Shield, Shoulder Armour.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I am planning on having 20 - 30 Marauders that will all follow the same hooded / cloaked theme and will all be Chaos Undivided.
At this point I am planning on painting them mainly in browns, blacks and greys with Boltgun Metal for majority of their armour with the occasional piece of gold / brass to brighten them up.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Marauder with Beastmen Arm / Axe Weapon (Some units in the front row will have this type of pose with their arms / weapons relaxed while units in the back rows will have their arms / weapons in the air ready for war).

Marauder with Beastmen Arm / Machete Weapon and Shield.

The first five Marauders grouped together.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I have been thinking of using "Unit Filler" with the Marauders, not because I do not have enough Marauders as I have heaps of these little hooded devils, but because I have never attempted any form of unit filler before and I think it would be fun to try it. The idea I have is to have a large section of broken / fallen over columns with a few Marauders standing / climbing them. It is just an idea at this point and once I start planning it out / positioning everything I may change my mind and not have any unit filler.

Two bags worth of Forge World resin columns.

Chaos Warshrine (WorkInProg).
I have tried to build my Chaos Warshrine to look as close as possible to the image in the book. It is a work in progress and will eventually have three Chaos Warriors alongside it.
The first Chaos Warrior will look the same as shown in the book, The second will have a fresh victim on a spike that he is placing on the pile of skulls / fire, The third will have a chain linked to both horses and will be dragging / guiding them forward.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Chaos Knight Horses with the front part / bridle from Vampire Counts Black Coach, Modified Vampire Counts Corpse Cart.

Fine black metal chain on left will be used on horses / warshrine and wrapped aroun one of the Chaos Warriors hands. Large pewter Chaos Symbol will be placed at the front of the warshrine as per original image in Warriors of Chaos book.

Flaming pile of skulls - Hell Yeah ! - I now have a total of 5 skulls left in my bitz box Side rails on warshrine will have large poles attached which have flaming cages at the very tops and have skulls spiked onto poles, (you can just see one of the poles on the right hand side of the second image - above). Rear rail will have large spikes attached in center as per original image.

The mother of all flaming demonic Chaos symbols = Modified Greater Demon of Nurgle Head with flame coming out of its mouth, large flaming chaos symbol set on post.
(The flaming pile of skulls has a hole drilled through the center which the post slides into).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The scale of this flaming monstrosity can be seen on the first photo of the warshrine. (lying flat on right hand side of image).
More pics to come as this creation gets finished and has the three Warriors added to it. (currently I do not own any Chaos Warriors as I have been focusing on the Chaos Marauders and some Chaos Ogres).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I have built 4 Chaos Ogres and am currently building another 4 at the moment, (these guys take forever to build due to the fancy-pants bases and the shield armour which is all held together by green stuff belts), never liked the look of the original Chaos Ogres, (they just looked soft to me, not scary at all and definitely not my vision of what huge Chaos Ogres should look like). These things are monsters and therefor should look like monsters - monsters covered in shield armour with heaps of mutations. Yeah mutations rule

They have all been granted the following options - #Chaos Armour, #Great Weapons.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

These guys are also Chaos Undivided. From Left to Right = 1st Ogre: Mutated Head on Left Shoulder (facing back), mutated arms coming out of stomach with trophy (head) in one hand, mutated / demonic skull coming out of center shield, spike coming out of center of helmet, spiked skull on base of weapon, skulls on chains hanging from greenstuff belts, shield armour with greenstuff belts holding it all together.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
2nd Ogre: "Standard Bearer" = Mutation coming out of stomach, mutated right arm, mutation on left forearm, modified banner, chaos defiler helmet, chaos giant modified weapon (tied to back with greenstuff belts), skulls on chains hanging from greenstuff belts, shield armour with greenstuff belts holding it all together.

3rd Ogre: "Musician" = Mutated Head on Left Shoulder (facing to side), collection of various sized bells hanging from greenstuff belt (his instrument /s), mutated tentacles / arms coming out of back, mutated left arm, chaos giant modified weapon, skulls on chains hanging from greenstuff belts, shield armour with greenstuff belts holding it all together.

4th Ogre: "Mutant Ogre" = Mutated Fly Head coming out of stomach, spikes / horns added to helmet, mutated tentacles / arms coming out of back, spiked skull on base of weapon, skulls on chains hanging from greenstuff belts, shield armour with greenstuff belts holding it all together.

Cool! Great bunch of conversions. The ogres are pretty cool and beat the usual lazy OgreK conversions hands down.

Thanks Perkustin, your comments are much appreciated. The Chaos Ogres took me forever to build as the shield armour had to have holes drilled into each one and then greenstuff belts looped through the holes.
The next 4 Chaos Ogres that I am currently working on should be just as crazy looking, if not even more crazy looking. (One of the new Chaos Ogres has the "Ogre Giant hand" which has a chain looped around part of a building. mad-mad-mad = looks totally insane). Another cool thing to mention is that some of these next Chaos Ogres have arms from the "Skaven Rat Ogres" - ver nice.

At the moment the Chaos Ogres have been put on -temporary hold- as I am trying to get some more Chaos Marauders built, (I have a pile of about thirty of them to clean & assemble). I am finding that cleaning and prepping these guys has taken me a lot longer than expected. (I would really like to get at least half of them built =15 units=, I have the first five units built which you have all seen, so that leaves another 10 units to do).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
There is also a Chaos Giant that will stand with the Chaos Ogres and help them to smash / stomp things that get in their way. I am planning to have a unit of 8 - 12 Chaos Ogres. (4 built and another 4 being built).
My vision of a Chaos Giant is a pretty terrifying vision really, well see for yourself...

Chaos Giant Converted (Still a Work in Progress - He is maybe half painted). *** He is still in need of a suitable name, so please give me your suggestions. *** I have never attempted to paint such a large model and am fairly happy with the result so far. The converted / mucked about with areas are : #Mutated head growing out of the side of his original head = Plenty of Green Stuff. #Bone Spikes coming out of his back and shoulder = Green Stuff around the joins to try and make it look like the skin is wrapped around the base of each bone spike. # Weapon has had one axe blade and one sword blade added. # Green Tentacle areas = A mixture of Chaos Spawn pieces and some "Green Stuff" Tentacles that I have made (I like the way the smallest tentacles have turned out as I wanted it to look like they were new growths. # Shield Armour = Different Chaos shields, Beastmen shields, Vampire Counts shield, etc, etc, (All linked together with one single piece of chain which would roughly measure 10 inches). I have added random skulls on chains, including a skull hanging of his spiked collar.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Close-Up of Chaos Symbol and "fancy-pants" basing work. I feel that the mutated second head and the skull hanging off his spiked collar make this guy look so pretty. (It is a pity he has such bad dental hygiene). I am not happy with the way his eye has turned out and will be fixing a lot of little areas which have had too much drybrushing applied, etc, etc.
So far I think that he looks pretty evil.

Chaos giant looks great. I never liked the weird belly on the model and it looks alot better covered up with the shields. Looking over some of your previous stuff i do like the (empire knight?) armoured torsos on the marauders works brilliantly. What's the scheme gonna be btw?

Thanks, The Chaos giant and the Chaos ogres should look pretty cool together as they all have shield armour and mutations. I have always found the big belly on the giant model makes him look a bit comical so I had two choices, (the first idea was to have some sort of mutation / creature coming out of his belly similar to the ogres, and the second was to wrap shields over his beer gut). The Chaos marauders with the Empire knightly order armoured torsos and cape are what I imagine Chaos marauders to look like. The army will be Chaos undivided and the main color scheme will be browns, greys and of course black. It is tempting to use some bright color scheme on them but I think at the end of the day the natural colors will suit the army well and look realistic.

The Marauders and the Ogres have had a little bit of progress, pics to come shortly.
Deathguard Time (well, I have to be true to the title of this thread, blog, ....... thing).

Deathguard Chaos Space Marines. This is the largest army that I currently have and like all my armies is a work in prog.
My vision of Deathguard troops (marines, terminators, etc) is that of very corrupt soldiers that are plaque ridden and seem almost possessed.

I intend on posing a lot of the models in hunched over positions and with their weapons pointing down, going for that zombie / possessed look.

Five Forgeworld Deathguard Terminators (Chaos Terminator Legs, Arms / Weapons).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
They are all very hunched with weapons pointing down. I have tried to make the bases look like a ruined urban terrain with little pieces of broken buildings / structures.

The five Forgeworld Deathguard Terminators with five converted Deathguard Terminators behind them.

These are the five creepy looking heads that will be used on the five Terminators that I converted.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The heads are from the Vampire Counts Corpse Cart and one from the Chaos Terminators. (The bright red part coming out of the second head looks like a tube coming out of his suit when the head is positioned into the torso).
The five converted ones where made from Space Marine Terminator Legs (purity seals and other insignia removed) with Chaos Terminator Torsos & Shoulder armor and a mixture of Chaos and Space Marine Terminator arms with a few possessed space marine arms used as well. I added blades onto the end of some of the weapons and even heads on spikes onto the tops of the weapons. I have made the torso armor look all rotten and shot up with bullet holes and have added spikes bursting out of the tops of the torso armor and the shoulder armor. I added pouches onto the waist of some models similar to the original Chaos Terminator legs.

I have glued some basing sand onto certain areas such as shoulder armor and have added Metal Nurgle symbols to some shoulders.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Green stuff has been used to hunch the torsos on the converted ones and also the Forgeworld ones.

Chaos Spawn.

There are another three of these crazies to make a total of four Chaos Spawns to wreak havoc for Father Nurgle.

This army has the following (so far) :

20 - 30 Forgeworld Deathguard Space Marines,
5 Forgewold Deathguard Terminators,
5 Converted Deathguard Terminators,
4 GW Chaos Spawn,
1 GW Greater Demon of Nurgle (unclean one),
1 Forgewold Deathguard Dreadnought,
1 Converted Deathguard Dreadnought,
1 GW Demon Prince of Nurgle,

and some other goodies that I will leave for another day.

The second Chaos Spawn to join his brother in a fun game of running around in circles chasing their own tail, occasionally taking random swipes at anything that passes to close.

He is prob half way painted, he has a similar base to the first spawn, so far I like the way the pink and yellow contrast on his claws, still more paint needed on his claws and everywhere I guess.

This side on shot shows his nice collection of spikey-hook things that are growing out of his back, how blessed he is

Birds eye view of this crazed beast.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The third spawn to join the pack.

I love the head on this guy, all of the spawn heads are awesome but this one looks so muffed-up. This guy is balancing on one leg, it kinda looks like he is mid stride (prob as he chases after his own brothers).

Unlike the first two spawn this guy is yet to have all of the gaps filled in with greenstuff / plastic glue to hide all of the joins and give a much smoother look.

He kinda looks like a demon from this angle, I think it is the tail and the spikes maybe. Check out the gympy-arm, he,he,he (looks so wrong, but in a way so right). He is so twisted and messed up.

Check out the stride on this guy, balancing on one foot (if you can call it a foot, maybe whats left of his foot - Papa Nurgle can be overly generous with his blessings on occasion).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The forth and final spawn. (very much still a WIP).

Like the last spawn, this guy is balancing on one foot / stump. Only his foot is hovering above a victims head (Squish).
He is very much a work in progress and is only half glued together with many pieces being held together with blutack.
I like the combination of the Nurgle Insect Head and the insect looking claw things coming out under the head.
So there you have it folks, Four Chaos Spawns to roam the lands. (Once I have completed building all of them I will do a group photo of these four crazies together).

Automatically Appended Next Post:

As always I appreciate feedback / constructive criticism, so let me know what you think.

One Deathguard Rhino complete with the Forgeworld Options. (WIP - Heaps of work to be done on this little hotrod).

The end result will have much craziness and mutation.

The plan is to have a painted interior so I will paint this section first before gluing the top part on. (I am not sure what to have inside as there is a fairly large area to play with). There will have to be something foul that lives in there. Feel free to give me your most muffed-up crazy ideas / suggestions for this one.

Close-Up photo of the front shows the detail of the Forgeworld piece (note the eye type things that are looking out of the viewing areas).

The side pieces have a huge amount of detail the same as the front piece. Check out the Deathguard Havoc shoulder plate / piece on the driver.

Other side of this beast.

Demon Prince of Nurgle.

This would have to be one of my all time favorite models. He is massive and has such plague & decay.

I have drilled / filled out all of the pipes coming out of the top of his armor and have greenstuffed all of the gaps / joins. Anyone who has ever built one of these bad boys will know what I mean when I say "all of the gaps" as there where a couple of big ones where the torso joins together and where the legs join and also where the arms join. The base on this guy is pretty full-on as he is standing on mesh which sits on top of scrap pieces of plastic sprue (kinda looks like pipe-work / frame) and then under the plastic sprue is basing sand and other goodies such as a pile of trophy skulls.

Close-Up of base.

Plague Marines.
First up lets have a look at the Chaos Space Marine with Nurgle Icon.

(I have added a Tau head on the top of the Nurgle Icon).

Close up of base shows that he is standing on two skulls.
Plague Marine Troop. (The bases on these guys have been made to deliberately look chopped up around the edges).
I have tried to make it so that the slightly lower level of basing sand can be seen from all angles on all of the Plague Marine models.

Plague Marine 1. (I like the pose on this guy with his arms down).

Close up of Plague Marine 1 base.

Plague Marine 3.

I like the belly and the face on this guy.

Plague Marine group shot.

Note: there are still a couple of these guys waiting to be cleaned / assembled.

Obliterators. ( = lots of barrels to be drilled out = ).

I have two of these guys (one built & one still to be put together) which will have similar detailed bases.

Man these guys have a lot of guns (and the understatement of the year award goes to ....).

The end result should like pretty cool.

WARRIORS OF CHAOS TIME AGAIN.

CHAOS MARAUDERS:

O.k so there were five Chaos Marauders that I had converted / kitbusted / mucked about with.
(I wanted another ten built to make 15 and, well, I nearly got there). I now have a total of 13 Marauders built ready to be undercoated and then painted.
I have a fairly big pile of all of the different parts for these guys still waiting to be built. (just to remind / refresh everyone, I am making these guys using : Wood Elves Golden Glade Heads, Empire Knightly Order Chest Armour and Capes, Marauder Legs, Marauder Capes, Beastmen Arms / Shields, Marauder Arms / Shoulder Armour / Shields).

Chaos Marauder #6. ( AKA: MC Hammer).

Wood Elves Golden Glade Head, Empire Knightly Order Chest Armour and Cape, Marauder Legs, Arms & Shield, Shoulder Armour.

Close up of Chaos Marauder #6's Warhammer. (Chaos Marauder Pick type weapon with Pick removed and replaced with a Hammer head).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Actually #6 has a better arm than the regular Marauder pick arm.
He actually has the Marauder Chieftain Arm with the sword removed leaving the skull on the end of the handle and then a hammer added where the sword blade was.
(nice one LODM).....

Anyways, moving right along...
Chaos Marauder #7. (Machete weapon and Hook on shield).

Wood Elves Golden Glade Head, Empire Knightly Order Chest Armour and Cape, Marauder Legs, Beastman Machete Weapon / Arm, Marauder Shield, Shoulder Armour.
Chaos Marauder #8. (Machete weapon and battle damaged shield).

The usual mix of bits.
Chaos Marauder #9. (Spiked Club weapon and trophy head on shield).

The usual mix of bits. (I like the Beastman spiked club weapon).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Chaos Marauder #10. (warhammer time, again, .....perhaps they can duel for the title of MC Hammer).

The mother of all warhammers, (well ones that could be carried by a Chaos Marauder anyway).

Close up of Chaos Marauder #10's Warhammer. (This was the one that was a Chaos Marauder Pick type weapon with Pick removed and replaced with a Hammer head).
Chaos Marauder #11. (Machete weapon and Trophy Head on Shield).

The usual mix of bits.
Chaos Marauder #12. (Beastman Axe Weapon and Trophy Head Shield).

The usual mix of bits. (I like this Beastman Shield with the Trophy Head on it, very Chaosy).
Chaos Marauder #13. (Lucky 13 = Beastman Pick type weapon and Marauder Face Shield).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here are some photos of the 13 Chaos Marauders grouped together.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So now its time to paint up the Marauders.
I am going to paint up this group of 13 and then at a later date build the other marauders and paint them.

Thanks for looking and as always I appreciate any comments.
