This was my first attempt at the 'dipping' method of shadows and I realize I have some clean up left to do on the gun. My primary interest is in the snow base, I know I don't have highlights, light effects, etc but getting my bases to be better is a primary concern at the moment. It doesn't help any that I've never seen snow so I have no idea if that is what its supposed to look like by itself or not (I assume not)

Also, example of grass/dirt base. c/c needed on that as well. (These are my first Tau and Sister of Battle so don't shoot me over the T1 painting)

As far as the grass goes it looks fine, however the snow looks just like frost bitten grass and not snow, snow looks like tiny round balls.

So, snowballs? I added more so it looks more like a snow drift then just frostbitten grass, but what else can I add that will make it better? Should the dirt be paler colored, or should there be dirt at all? I could add rocks, but other than that, what should be added?
