Has anyone ever scratch built Kommandos cause of how much they cost? If so post up some pics or tips cause I'm doing it soon and I need all the ideas I can get. Thanks.

I haven't got any pictures, but in a white dwarf a bit ago, there was an blood axe army, where the commandos had been given red berets and camo pants. Apart from that, no conversions.

Thanks for comments guys. Last question, anyone know of any big back packs that can fit on them? The backpacks are a big aspect of the Kommando.

Are you familiar with Secret Weapon?

they make conversion bits and have a range of backpacks in various sizes:

Far cheaper than Forge World...

You could "orkify" these by adding choppas, ropes, camo netting, stikk bombs, etc. if needed....

I don't have any pics with me but I used the pack that comes with the big shoota ork from the black reach set. The pack looks nice and fits really well.

If you gonna pay that forgeworld price you might as well get the regular ones. not too much difference.

I used imperial guard backpacks with orky weapons from the stormboys sprue to make them bulkier. Then painted them with a camo pattern.

Ork Kommandos are really easy to make, alot of players I've seen who make their own (including me) just combine boys with Stormboyz heads/weapons as well as Burna Boy heads and such. Give them reverse grip choppas, bunch of stikk bombs etc.
