Strategy, Thoughts:
1).
GROUPING. HQ 1 + Troop 4;
HQ 2 + Troop 5; Fast 1+ Fast 2. No trukk is full, so that a Boss could run into whatever trukk is still trukking.
2).
OVERALL STRATEGY. You'll note that all units are about the same points. On deployment I want there to be no obvious choice at what unit to fire. Hopefully, my opponents will be forced either to fire two or three times at one unit to destroy it (good) or to fire at all the units on the board (better).
3).
NO KFF BIG MEK. This is very unorthodox, but the
KFF Big Mek has two things going against it in my book: one, they give an obvious, very obvious target to fire at; two, I hate how it makes me either bunch my army up or split up what will be protected & what won't. I'm not smart enough to find the in-between. I'm better served, I think, with the screening options below.
4).
BIKERNOB ESCORT. The bikernobs are diversified, but small & without a painboy. They are suppose to screen the trukks (and themselves) from enemy fire. The opponent will be forced to fire at the trukks with a coversave, or at the bikernobs for a coversave.
5).
BUGGY ESCORT. There more traditional role of screening trukks is reserved for the stormboys, not the trukkboys. Buggies standup pretty well against assaults, and the stormboys should be able to keep up, performing the hammer-&-anvil tactic when required.
6).
NO LOOTAS. NOT GROTS. I just didn't have the points to include these units. A great shame! I do love them, particularly in combo, what with the lootas murdering from afar and the grots defending them from combat as well as holding objectives. I worked to include them by making one group of bikernobs into bikerboys for the change in
FOC, and by dropping red paint jobs list wide. The math wouldn't work. Such is life.
